On how the South Korean instructors taking gifts and getting punished by the law, reflecting it against what’s happening here, in Taiwan, from the Newspapers, translated…
Some of the parents are accustomed to giving gifts to the instructors for the holidays to show their gratitude, and hoped that the instructors can look after ones’ own young more, sometimes, the parents get so passionate, it was, hard, for the instructors, to turn away the gifts. Some of the instructors believed, that so long as you have the right to change the students’ grades, the instructors shouldn’t accept any form of gifts, to avoid being questioned on fairness. The Teachers’ Union in Taiwan suggested, that the smaller items such as cookies and fruits, are hard to turn down, so, the instructors should give it away to the class, to show the parents, that they didn’t need to give the gifts.
and, we’re not talking about “special occasions” here, not my photograph…
“The culture of gift-giving should change”, Wu, the honorary chairman of the National Parents’ League said flat out, most of the teachers wouldn’t mind these mindfulness, but, a lot of parents are used to giving gifts, especially for the schools in the cities, and this brings out the economical status differences of the students’ families’ backgrounds. Actually, you don’t really need to give any gifts to show how much you respect your instructors, you can write a card as a class, or make some small items by hand, “don’t make the instructors struggle”, and you can help, turn the gift-giving cultures around too.
So, this, is the culture of gift-giving backfiring! I mean, why should we reward someone for doing their jobs, huh? That, is what they’re there to do, like how after my surgeries back in 2000, that DEADBEAT father of mine gave two Mont Blanc fountain pens to the two doctors who treated me, and that wasn’t necessary at all, they were just doing what they’re supposed to, as doctors, treating me, their patient, hello, hello, hello??? And this just shows, how BAD this culture of giving gifts is getting, and, there are those school teachers who would mistreat the students whose parents didn’t bring any goodies to give to them too, and what, would that be teaching the kids, huh???
