The Children of New Migrants Sang Out Their Gratitude

A show of gratitude toward their mothers who’d come from faraway places, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

On the eve of Migrant Day, I’d accompanied my child up north, to attend the “Finding New Affections” creative arts awards ceremonies sponsored by the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, there, I bore witness to endless moving stories of the migrants and their children.

In the innocent writings of the children, they’d described their mothers who are of various nationalities, different cultures, how they were faced with worries, helplessness, along with difficulties, as they’d all tried, to adapt to the ways of their separate husbands’ families way of life, it’d brought me to tears; how the children were moved as they went to their mother’s home to visit the grandparents, to getting involved in a different culture’s way of life, they’d used their childish, bright eyes, along with that delicate sense of observation, to take notes on how warm and beautiful the world really is, they’d spelled out the love they’d experienced and felt from their mothers, how much their mothers had, given to the families, and drew out the sentiments of that homesickness that their moms experienced, coming to liv3e here.

There was a child, who’d understood that his family isn’t well-to-do, so he’d, prevented himself from going into the Tae-Kwon-Do dojo activities, as his mother saw, she’d sold of her jewelries quietly, to get the money for the Tae-Kwon-Do class that her son wanted to enroll in. After practicing Tae-Kwon-Do hard, he’d won the first-place trophy in a competition, and, dedicated his trophy to his mom, and everybody in the audience was, moved.

There was a child who’d won the awards for singing, as she’d gone up to receive the trophy, she’d sung out the song that she’d competed with, “Mom” a cappella, the lyrics stated, “You’d silently supported the household, allowing the years to leaving markings on your forehead, said, that love, is the answer to everything………”, her soft and crisp clean voice resonated through the auditorium, as the curtains fell down, and, the applauses sounded like the thunder, above the skies of Taipei Main Station.

So, this, is from the children’s angles, they’d watched their mothers give so very much to the family, how they’re all, working hard, and how much their mothers missed their homeland, but chose to live here, because this is where they’d started their families.
