Used Himself as an Example, Ji, Who Was Diagnosed with a Rare Condition Encouraged Those Who are Currently Unemployed

Passing along the kindness he’d received, by inspiring others, from the Newspapers, translated…

“You still have a breath in you, what, are you so afraid of?”, the temporary worker from the Keelung Unemployment Assistance Office, “Ji” would always constantly, help boost the callers who are unemployed, to give them the encouragements they’d needed, he’d known, firsthand, how hard it was, for someone who was unemployed, to get back on track. He was once, an electric engineer, but because of his illness, he’d become, paraplegic, and received help from the Unemployment Assistance Office, and now, he’s walking on that same path, to help others.

The forty-one-year-old, Ji, three years ago, was still working as a high-end engineer of the electronics industries, working until early in the morning overtime had become a way of life for him, he was able to, provide for his two sons who are educated in private schools, with his seven-figure salaries, but, working too hard had, crushed his health status, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis caused by brain lesions, after a month off from work, he’d returned back, but, his condition didn’t improve at all.

“I’d thought about getting past May First, then, I will be able to take time off!”, but, it didn’t happen that way, at the end of April, Ji’s condition worsened, his brains, his sight both, deteriorated, even reading in English, making copies became, too trying for him, and ever since, he couldn’t work anymore, and was, fired.

At the end of his road, he’d arrived at the unemployment center in Keelung for help, filed for unemployment benefits, and, the counselor, Yang helped provided Ji with occupational training, but, the job center, because of his condition, wouldn’t even take into considerations in hiring him. Getting defeated time and time again, made Ji started doubting his own ability to work.

This August, the occupational training counselor assigned Ji to work as a six-month temp worker, other than giving him a paycheck, it’d also helped him gain the information for a new job. Ji was responsible for tracking down the employment statuses of the unemployed, he’d used his own life experiences, encouraged the callers whom he’d never met, but was in the same situation as he was.

“I’m talking to you now, you still have a pulse, right? Walking out of your houses, find a job, how can you not do that?”, Ji used this straightforward method, woke up a lot of those who are down in the lows of their lives, he’d said, that a lot of the unemployed population wouldn’t go outside, he’d wanted them to know, that so long as they’re willing to go out, there’s, hope.

Helping those who were locked up for many years to finally walk outside, Ji told, “They’d helped me more than I’d helped them.”, he’d found, that, he feels very happy, being able to help others, that the work he’s currently doing, helps him gain his own self-confidence back, and, the new job he will be getting, he’d, hoped, to start as a call center representative too, to keep on helping those who are in the lows of their lives.

So, this man had, with the help of the employment center, found something he loved doing, and, he was able to, use his own experiences in life, to help encourage those who sought him out for assistance, making his own experiences in life meaningful, to someone else, besides himself.
