From the Newspapers, translated…
A woman, Feng, from Hsinbei City after having a huge fight last May with her boyfriend, Liu, stabbed him twenty-six times with a knife, after she’d brutally murdered her boyfriend, she’d accompanied his corpse for twelve hours, then, turned herself in. the D.A.’s office asked Feng on behalf of his older sister in the amount of $50,000N.T.s, Liu didn’t have any direct blood lineage, and that the older sister wouldn’t qualify for the rights to ask for payment, and, the case was tossed by the judge, but the D.A. believed, that there’s a reasonable cause behind asking for the amount, is now pursuing an appeal for it.
The D.A. investigated, that Feng (age 45), is on the heavier side, and had a verbal altercation with her thinner, slimly-built boyfriend, Liu (age 60), she’d picked up a fruit knife and stabbed at him several times, causing him to die. Feng claimed, that because her boyfriend kept asking her for money, and had beaten her up, that, was why she’d, murdered him.
Because Liu was never married, and had no offspring, plus his parents, grandparents had all passed away, the D.A. went through the victims’ support system, and gave Liu’s older sister $50,000N.T. in emotional distress, then, they’d turned to Feng to get her to pay more, but, Feng claimed that she couldn’t get enough money, to pay Liu’s families.
The courts mandated, that Liu’s older sister doesn’t have the rights, to ask for the payments of emotional distress. But the Keelung District Attorney’s Office believed, that based off of the “Protections of Victims of Crimes” amendment in 2008, Liu’s older sister qualified as the “surviving family members”, and that she can ask for the payments based off of the rules.
So, it’s still, all about the money here, because a man was stabbed to death by his girlfriend, the families of the boyfriend is now, looking for repatriations from the woman who’d murdered their loved ones, but, the rules state, that you need to be directly related by blood, meaning that you’re parent-child or spouse with the deceased, in order to get the money, and this case had, overturned the former rules and opened up the doors…
