Entering into the Rings of Your Own Lives

How hearing a motivational speaker changes someone’s life, translated…

It’s, less than a hundred days to the national entrance exams, other than the stacks of mock exams that crushed my body and my mind, the stacks of reference texts, there’s only, that sea of raging waves, with the fogs surrounding it.

just keep fighting, that, is the way to live life, not my photo…

In order to get the hang of the hearing sections, I’d gone on TED, and clicked on several lectures, and, that lecture by Matthew Williams that sounded a bit difficult to understand to me, but with the clearly spoken voice, made me curious, to click on the screen that’s slowly fading out, and I’d gotten fully focused, in listening to his lecture.

Matthew Williams, with mental retardation, after he’d entered into the Special Olympics, not only did he shine on the competitive rings, but, he’d stepped onto the podiums, and, expressed his gratitude toward the Special Olympics in front of so many in the world, and he expressed how proud he was, of the accomplishments of those who’d spoken in anger of him, as well as the achievements of his peers as well.

don’t just sit out, get into the ring!!!  Not my photograph…

His every word, every movement, every gaze, caused ripples inside of my heart, although, I’m more than lucky, to have a healthy body, but, it seemed, that I can, see my timid self, in him, who’d grabbed constantly onto his shirts, working hard, to speak every single syllable aloud, the me that’s lacking in self-confidence, that’s stiffened in front of the crowd, making a speech to everybody.

If he could overcome his fears, facing the crowd, then, why is it, that I’m only facing my professors, and am having difficulties, voicing my own opinions? If he can manage to find his own island, then, why am I still just, getting carried by the waves, afloat, in the same places? If he can become extraordinary, then, why am I still doubting, if I can, actually, sail off into the great big world?

I’d, given him the longest applause using my mind, for his courage, his hardworking mannerisms, and for how he’d helped me, to find my focus again, readied myself, to break through the fogs now.

So, this, is the effect of a motivational speech, sometimes, you just need to have the right timings, like in that specific moment, you’d encountered something or someone that can inspire you, to breakthrough whatever it is you’re currently stuck in, and that, is all it takes, to become………
