Tragedies that HIT the societies because of Long-Term Care 2.0, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
The President Tsai’s Long-Term Care 2.0 Test Programs were implemented at NINE cities or counties this month, but, recently, the country was hit, by tragedy after tragedy in the long-term care realm, and, I can’t help but wonder: is there a way, to expedite the implementation of the programs, so those who are in need of the services can find practical assistance, to reduce the occurrences of the tragedies?
On the 23rd, in the Taishan District of Hsinbei City, the sixty-five year-old woman took care of her son who became a vegetable due to a car wreck, and although the son has a severely handicapped manual, and based off of Long-Term Care 1.0 program, he should have a total of NINETY hours of home care provided by the government agencies, but because of the lacking in staff members in the government, the family was only allotted sixty hours, and only one to two hours a day, the five days a week services provided, adding up to not yet forty hours a week.
And recently, because of the woman’s chemotherapy that’s put her in pain, she’d also needed to look after her young grandson. Because she couldn’t reduce the stress of care, she’d stabbed her own son to death, then, killed herself.
On the 22nd, a fifty-five year-old son became stressed out over how his mother who’d needed dialysis regularly and was demented was about to be released from the hospitals, but couldn’t find a nursing home to place her in, he’d leapt off of the building, to “solve” the problems. Don’t’ know if President Tsai and her cabinet members can feel how much never-ending pressures are on the lives of those who are caring for their loved ones long-term?
Setting up a long-term care program, the key is steadying the funding for the programs, and having enough personnel, and you can’t have one or the other, you need both to work. And, the truth told us, that the funding allotted to long-term care went from 30 to 40 billion dollars as the election occurred, to getting reduced down to $2.07 billion N.T.s afterward the elections, and they’re placing an excise tax on cigarettes to help fund it; and, the government is planning to slash the budgets next year, to $1.78 billion N.T.s, clearly, the projected funding for the long-term care program is coming up short, so, why not just drop the ideologies, and select the long-term care insurance plans, to stabilize the funding.
it says, on this “poster” that the individuals receiving assistance would go from 511,000 to 738,000, with the growth rate of about 44%, that more people are going to benefit, but, here comes the PROBLEM, the program is still NOT carefully thought out yet…
And, the personnel is another huge problem, and the Department of Labor did away with the demands of personnel needing at least a college degree, and only needed ninety-hours of hands-on training, with the bad working conditions, no wonder, there are, less than thirty-percent of people getting hired for the job; and, that Department of Sanitary Welfare wanted to implement the alternative army service terms into the long-term care programs, everybody has a separate opinion, can the Long-Term Care Committee of the Legislature even make it all work?
The lacking of funding and personnel of the program, but, there’s the Long-Term Care A, B, C’s of the varied levels of care provided, why not just train the personnel first, and, integrate all the resources of long-term care from a community, first, give the residents their needed kinds of long-term care services, then, start planning the programs nationwide, otherwise, as this system is being set up, there would surely be more and more tragedies that occur, and, by this way, the long-term care programs are bound to fail.
So, you can see, how this, IS the DIRE need of the society, right? There had been so many tragedies that’s happened already due to lack of personnel, lack of training for long-term care programs, and yet, the government is still in the PLANNING phase of how to make long-term care work? Are you SHITTING me here! Give the society something VALID, like training more workers in the long-term care industries, and setting up up-to-standard nursing homes for the elderly, or something!!!
