Turning the pages of the newspapers, there are, many encounters of child abuse, and, those stories that actually got printed or reported may only be tips of a larger iceberg, and, the cases that weren’t found out are even more unsettling. There’s a rise in child abuse cases since 2012 steadily, there’s an average of a reported child abuse case every thirty-three minutes now.
the kind where the scars aren’t on the surfaces, not my photo…
Child abuse not only causes damages to the victims of abuse, it’d also creates more problems for the society, increasesd the costs of medical treatments, and public panic, it’d become, a serious public safety issue now. The western medical researches showed, that every year, there is about three to sixteen percent of children who were abused physically, and ten percent of children who are being neglected or emotionally abused. In the children who came to the children’s emergency rooms, although, there are less than one-percent of children who came in for physical abuse, however, thirty percent of these children needed to be admitted into the hospital for treatments; of them, the serious head traumas occur mostly in children under age one, and, the signs of head trauma may not match up to the textbooks, and may not be apparent, which is why the death rate of children dying from head trauma is five times more than children who had sustained other forms of physical internal injuries.
The cases that came up in the news recently, whether it be child abuse, or the random physical assaults, are mostly related to the following. First, the parents or caretaker’s issues: lacking parenting skills, not having good enough parent-child relations, unstable marriages, unemployment, living in poverty, the parents or caretakers were abused themselves as children, etc., etc., etc. Secondly, family issues: the family members or the young parents of the children have histories of mental illness, alcoholism, drug addictions, etc., etc., etc. third, the issues of the children themselves: premature babies, congenital health problems, mentally or physically handicapped children.
now, you CAN see the scars, not my photo still…
For the children who endured through abuse, they’d not only needed the medical treatments, but also psychotherapy, placement, so the children who were abused can grow up under protection. More importantly, to prevent the cases to keep on happening, we’d needed to, go deeper into the separate families. Educating the medical staff members about child and youth abuse, to notice the signs of abuse early, and setting up the proper and standardized procedures of handling such matters.
Protecting the children and adolescents is no longer the responsibilities of just the medical professionals, but something that we ALL must get involved in, to notice the earliest signs of children being abuse, you can help save a life, a family, and we can help push Taiwan forth, into a developed nation that focuses on the welfare, the wellbeing of all children.
So, this, is the opinion of a medical professional, and she is right, but, because the signs are barely noticeable, because the adults just don’t pay enough attention, along with a TON of other reasons, that, is why child abuse is not easily realized, and, there’s the need for becoming MORE educated on noticing the signs, what the signs are here.
