Her Granddaughter Gave Birth and Deserted Her Own Child, the Grandmother Fought for Custody of the Great Granddaughter

A woman in her sixties, Yang, because her granddaughter had a daughter out of wedlock, left her own child behind, ran off, her daughter (the mother of her granddaughter) couldn’t manage.  As Yang fought for the custody, she’d told the judge, “No matter how hard it gets, I will, raise my great granddaughter into adulthood!”, she’d moved the judge, and, allowed Yang to take custody of her own great granddaughter, this, is one of the rarest of this sorts of verdicts in this country.

Yang said, she’d worked in the odds and ends, and, there were family members who would give her the assistance as she’d needed, that she would have a little over ten thousand dollars N.T. per month, that although she wasn’t well-to-do, but she’d stated to the judge, “I can spend a hundred a day and share a bowl of noodles, and although the bed’s a bit too small, we can both manage to squeeze into it,” “no matter how difficult it gets, I will, do my best, to raise my own young great grandchild into adulthood.”

Yang’s neighbors pointed out, that although she’s not economically well, and needed to work odds and ends, and the help from her own son, and relatives, and she’d lived in a rental home, but, she has a heart that loved, and cherished her grandchild well, they’d often seen her taking her great granddaughter to the parks nearby to play, the great grandmother and great granddaughter are very well together, “She’s an amazing great grandmother!”

The Taoyuan District Court investigated and found that five years ago, Yang’s granddaughter had a baby five years ago out of wedlock, and because the father was unknown, the child took her mother’s last name, and her granddaughter had, dumped her daughter, left home on her own, to marry someone else, and had another child, and never inquired about her daughter again, and this young child originally lived with her grandmother.

The elderly woman, Yang at the start of the year, filed for the claims to gain custody of her great granddaughter, she’d pointed out, that her daughter, (the grandmother of the young child), had TEN children, and this year, just gave birth to another young daughter, and this current daughter, was younger than her own great granddaughter, that her daughter’s household wasn’t economically well, that if the great granddaughter was left in her care, she wouldn’t get good enough care; that, was why she’d filed to stop the parental rights of the mother of the young child, and wanted to become the legal guardian of her own great granddaughter.

The courts sent investigators to visit the family, and found that the living space of the young child was very cramped, the space was uncleanly without enough light, the bathrooms and the living rooms didn’t have the air flowing, and there’s the smells of dogs too, and, as the investigator stayed to examine the room for only three minutes, he’d already seen five roaches crawling on the walls; and, Yang’s own daughter admitted, “I can’t even keep myself”, didn’t want to become the legal guardian of her young granddaughter.  The five-year-old young girl told the judge, “I don’t have a dad, and my mom doesn’t love me.”

Yang told the judge, that no matter how hard life gets for her, she will do everything in her abilities, to raise up her own great granddaughter, and her passions had, moved the judge; plus as the investigators visited the household, he saw how Yang interacted so very well with her young great granddaughter, and the young child’s mother rarely visited, the judge believed, that Yang was more than capable, able-bodied, and that her close friends and family offered her the assistance as she’d needed, mandated that the mother of the young girl’s parental rights terminated, and the custody goes to the great grandmother.

So, this, would be a very rare case anywhere, because, there’s no one left, who’s fitting enough to take care of this young child, and the young child showed that she was well, living with her great grandmother, that, is why the judge gave the custody to this great grandmother, and this still shows, how irresponsible the parents CAN be!
