Of Course, We are, Friend

The words I couldn’t say, translated…

The girls in puberty are always very sensitive, they’d taken the smallest actions to heart, and, made them into huge thunderstorms.

I had a best friend in the class in my middle school years, she’s a straightforward, kinda, rough, can’t read the “hidden rules” of the girls, and she’d become, the victim of this storm of our puberty years.  The ignition point of the events were something so minute: there was a girl in the class thought she was very pretentious, that she’d gotten along too well with the boys in the class, and decided to, single her out.  And, I’d feared that I may get singled out alongside her by the rest of the girls in the class, so, I’d, chosen, to stay far away from her, to show that what she did, has nothing to do with me.

One day after class, she’d, walked to my desk, asked lightly, “Are we no longer friends?”, back then, I’d not answered her right away, and she’d turned away from me, feeling disappointed.

After a month, the storms were over, and, I’d gotten closer to her again.  But, I clearly felt, that something was not as it used to anymore, I can’t even bring myself to apologize to her, and I’d owed her, “Yeah sure, we’re friends, of course!”

So, you had, succumbed, to peer pressure, and, done what you thought was the right thing, but looking back, you’d, regretted, mistreating your friend, not offering the social support she was needing, and thus, that gap between the two of you, became wider, wider, and wider, and, the two of you, may not even be friends anymore by the end of middle school, right???
