My Granddaughter Who Loves to Draw

Encouraging, cultivating the love of art in a young child here, translated…

How the time flies, my second granddaughter is already in the first grade now. She’d very smart, active, and, although she’d needed someone to breathe down her neck to get her to study, but, she is, extremely, artistic, especially in art, no matter where she is, when the drive to draw came to her, she’d, picked up the markers and the papers, and started, doodling.

not my photo…

My daughter-in-law knew of her love, since she was in her second year of kindergarten, she’d sent her to an art studio to learn to draw every Tuesday evenings, and, asked the teacher to zoom in on her, because this child is very active and curious. But, after a few short sessions, the teacher told us, “Do not worry, she’s very focused in class, very immersed into the creations.”, yeah, certainly, whenever there’s something that interests her, she’d, become, totally, focused.

The first time, the topics of the drawings is, “Fishes Every Year”, I thought she did an amazing job, so I’d, sent it into the papers, and, the editor-in-chief said, that she drew very well, but, they were only taking in the art pieces of elementary school students, and hoped that after she started school, she can send her artwork in again. The praises from the newspaper editor gave my granddaughter more confidence.

from the creative mind of a child, not my picture…

It’s just, that she’d loved it too much, and, it’d, made us not know how to react to her love. One day on the way to school, inspiration hit, she’d flipped open her notebook, then, squatted down by the flowers, started drawing, I’d, told her to stop drawing, that she’s, late for school already! But, it’s like, she was, enchanted, totally, ignored me. And, other than letting her spend her creativity completely, there was, nothing I can do.

There was once more, we’d taken her to the wholesales mart, she bought her favorite tea set toy, and as we ate at the restaurant on our way back, she’d neglected eating, and, placed that tea set onto the tables and started sketching it out. Seeing how focused she looked as she worked, it was, actually, quite cute. I started, taking pictures of her doing it, and hoped, that she could, carry on, loving drawing.

“Let’s DRAW!!!”…not my photograph still…

Based off of the papers, it’s a good thing that a child takes up art, through art, the child can get that flair about her/himself, and express her/his emotions; and it’d also, help them gain more patience, persistence, as well as imagination, observation, as well as increase the creativity of the mind, it’s such, a wonderful talent to have.

So, this, is the way, to cultivate the love of doing something in a child, not pushing her, but just, allowing her to develop the skills on her own, and, when she’d needed something from the outside world, she’s going to ask for it, and, by allowing the child to do this, you’re giving your child, the lead, in her own learning processes.
