Paranoid Delusions of Alzheimer’s

This, probably won’t happen, to ALL who’d been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, or maybe, it’s what will happen, to all those elderly folks, as the progressions of the disease happen, how the HELL should I know, I ain’t NO specialist here, and this, is from the most recent interactions with my maternal grandmother…

Someone’s out to get me, they want to skin me, cut off my flesh, and eat it!!! With that look of panic and fear, washing over her face, and, her family (ME!!!) members tried to reassure her, “nobody’s out to get you, grandma, everybody loves you, can you tell me, W-H-O you think is going to hurt you???” “Someone, someone wants to eat my flesh!”, “Am I the one who want to eat your flesh?”, “Not you!”, “So, who? Uncles, aunt, my mother?”, “No”, and, I’d worked, really hard, to reassure her, that NOBODY’s out to get her, then, I asked, “is it your household helper who’s out to murder you, and eat your flesh?”, “no!”, and, I ended up, trying, to divert her attention, by talking about my uncle’s young granddaughter, how they will all come back soon, to visit with her, and this time, taking out that photograph of the youngest of this fourth generation still couldn’t successfully, deter her from the beliefs of “someone wants to eat my flesh!”

this was my grandmother a little while ago, but her dementia had progressed further on than this…

And that’s just it, if the elderly started having these psychotic symptoms, caused by their dementia, there’s only ONE way to resolve it, by ANTI-PSYCHOTIC meds, because my grandmother needed a relief of her own fears, and, just by talking it out, trying to convince her, that NOBODY’s out to get her, well, it doesn’t work, because of how stubborn she’d become…

So, medicating the elderly, although it MIGHT be a LAST resort, sometimes, it just, HAS to be D-O-N-E, because, instead of her, living everyday in fear, wouldn’t you want your elderly parents or grandparents, to have LESS anxieties? I mean, after all, they are, all very, elderly, in their eighties or nineties already, so, why don’t you, help MAKE all their lives easier, and, medication still probably wouldn’t help ALL the cases like my maternal grandmothers, I’m thinking, because each case is different, and, you’ll have to consult a PSYCHIATRIST on that, but that, is just my observations…
