The forty-seven year-old Liao originally owned a photo shop, but because of the coming on of the digital age, his old-style shop closed down, he’d believed, that there’s a future in long-term care, and started working as a male caretaker of a long-term care center, and, compared to his female counterparts, his attention to detail and professionalism doesn’t pale by comparison, is trusted by the family members of those whom he looked after.

Liao originally owned and operated a photo store, but with the coming of the digital age, there’s a reduction of clients, sometimes, there would only be one to two customers. He’d wanted to switch tracks, but didn’t have any other skills, and seeing that the long-term care facilities are looking for personnel, he’d wanted to enter, but feared that he wouldn’t be any good, and, in the encouragement of his friends, he’d taken part in the training program provided by the local governments.
“I have parents too, and I’d empathized!”, Liao, who’s warm in nature told, that long-term care is an industry of conscience, the most basic qualities are compassion, patience, and treating the cases like they were, his own parents, he’d hoped, that more people in this country can, get involved in the long-term care, because speaking the same languages, can give more emotional supports to the residents in nursing homes.
Liao currently works in a long-term care center in Er-Lun County, he’s like a rooster in a house of hens, compared to the other five female coworkers, his attentiveness to detail and professionalism is comparable; he’d pointed out, that the male caretakers can only look after male patients, but other than changing the diapers, feeding, they can also lift the patients to the doctors’ offices, fixing up the hardware in the nursing homes too, “taking care both the inside AND outside!”

“Feng! Oh, I know him!”, a lot of family members are from the local county, hearing that it was him who would be working, they’d all felt, very at ease, and would call him up to tell him what they’d needed, like when the cases need to go to the doctors, and when to take them home, and Liao would be there for them.
Liao only takes a day off a week right now, but he’d not complained of how hard work was, he believed, that the separate cases were taken to the long-term care facilities, they’d feel lonely, over missing their loved ones, and he can play the roles of their sons or grandsons, “I’m not going to work for the sake of work, not for the sake of money either.”, working as a caretaker, is a higher calling for him, he’d treated the separated cases he was assigned, like they were, his own family members.
The manager of the long-term care facility, Lin said, Liao really treats all of his clients like his own family.
So, this man, had found his calling, and, there is a need for caretakers in the long-term care industries, and, if there are, more people from the community willing to do this, it would benefit not only the elderly population, but also, the younger generation as well too.
