Life, the Obstacle Course

Letters from Children I Sponsored

Translated…

In the hardships of life, if there’s, a stranger, who can, offer him the warmth, leading him, step, by step, toward that wide open road, then maybe, it’s, enough, to turn a life around—this, was the mindset I carried, when I sponsored the three children from poverty stricken backgrounds from years ago.

From thirty years ago, when I’d sent the money, to help build a hospital in the distant regions, I’d carried that heart of kindness, of wanting to contribute, to the world we live in, and, although, I was only to donate a couple of hundred dollars to a thousand each and every month, I’d not stopped sending in the money for couple of decades since I first started this.

Three years ago, I’d found a message, of sponsoring children from the periodicals of World Vision Org, and, I’d gone to the local chapter office, to pick up the forms and start on the procedures, the workers asked me which country would I like my sponsored kids? I’d told her, the country where children are most in need of my help! And so, I had, three children, from South Africa, Zambia, and Indonesia, a boy, and two girls since.

children who are now, going to school, because of these sponsors who helps them, not my photograph…

A little while ago, I’d gotten their growth updates, with the words of gratitude from their parents and them too: the twelve year-old told me, that they’d finally had a well with a pump drilled in their town, and now, as they went to school, they’d not needed to travel very far off, to get the water they’d needed to use anymore. Another child said, that although, there was, NO electricity in her village, but, the air of Christmas was still, very celebratory and joyous, I’m really glad, to hear how hard she was, studying in school, and she’d wanted to be just like me, to study as much as she possibly can too.

Over the years, I’d written the kids letters, and, they’d, written to me, we’d encouraged one another, seeing their thank-you cards, and see how much progress they were making in health and other areas, becoming healthier by the year, I’m really glad, I wish I had wings, to fly to that distant world, hugging them tightly, patting them on their shoulders, telling them, that I will always be, supporting them.

in these harsh conditions, children are in need of help from outside, not my photograph…

So, this, is how helping someone in need out can make you feel that you’re, contributing to the world, and, this, is what a lot of people are doing now, sponsoring children from those third-world countries, because they saw a need, that these children deserved better environment that they can grow up in, so, they’re, lending a helping hand.
