The young life that’s lost from yesterday, that’s, sparked huge debates today, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
The case of the counselor, abusing a warden to death had caused the society to speak ill about the orphanages, but, at the same time, can you imagine, the difficulties of the situations that these orphanages are faced with?
Because these are nonprofit organizations, the operations of these places relied solely on the generous donations of kindhearted people, there’s next to nothing in government assistance received. And, in this lacking of funding, the rules became, irrelevant. How can the systems and placements of this country be up to standard under these circumstances?
A lot of the orphanages, due to lack of funding, and how hard it was, to raise the funds, had, decreased the number of personnel. For the orphanage where the incident happened this time, had there been the two or more workers as stated by the law, helping one another out, this tragedy can, easily have been, avoided! What we need to press on about, is how can you ask a counselor, to shoulder EVERYTHING in caring for the child all of her/his own?
How much responsibility, IS there, for one caretaker to handle? The children who were placed in the orphanages are mostly neglected, or abused, or became orphaned, all of the children had, once been hurt by someone else, establishing that basic trust would be, very difficult, which is why they’d often acted out in anger, became impulsive, breaking the rules, or resorting to violence, along with other negative responses or behaviors.
Any child who was placed in the orphanage, let’s put aside the issue of adaptation, being able to trust and establish that secure connection with other kids, as well as the caretakers, is a huge enough challenge on its own.
As you can imagine, how many challenges, these caretakers are faced with, taking care of these children! You’d needed to, have more than enough professional abilities, to care for these children who are with nobody else, the caretakers need to be, experienced in the area.
But, the pays of these caretakers are very low, with a ton of tasks the workers needed to handle from day to day, and there’s no way to get that promotion easily either, a huge fluidity in the personnel changes. Those who can work for over three years, are those with the real passions toward the children, the love, and showed a ton of concerns for them, that, is what keeps them all going. But, the reality is against them, there’s a lot and fast personnel changes in these places.
If we really care, and wanted to prevent other tragedies like this from happening, then, we should, look into training, increasing the pays, establishing a support system of workers, and, adding more personnel.
Plus, the children who are, emotionally unstable are in desperate need of looking after psychologically too, to help them to become stabilized, and growing up healthy. But, the current orphanages, not only lacked the professionals of counseling, and even if the orphanages have the counselors, they’re all, under qualified, not certified as counselors. And, by the same token, the caretakers would accumulate the stresses, and they’d also, need that supportive network too, to get the pressures out of their systems, to prevent these sorts of losing control, and hurting, even killing the kids they’re looking after.
Getting angry as you saw these news stories won’t help solve the problems, we need to examine the system, and make the changes needed, so we can, resolve this problem for once, and for all.
So, it’s the lacking in how the system was set up, that contributed to the murder of this teen, that, is what the writer is saying, and, I partially agree, because the system needs to improve, and because there’s this, lack of personnel, there’s not enough manpower working, that, was why this particular tragedy had, occurred, but, this is not to say, that it’s entirely the system’s fault either, because it was, the counselor who’d, used too much force in disciplining the teen, causing him to die.
