Encounters with the wildlife, translated…

That day, he’d just, shown up, at the end of the grass patch in the back of the house, on the edge of the forest, Sand and I felt that jolt in our hearts, and, although we’d known, that there are, deer in this area, but, we’d not, expected, that they’d just, shown up like this………

The First Meeting with the Wild Deer Brother and Sister Pair

On this day, Annie and Gilbert came as a pair to visit.

For two years, my son continued to share his life at his new place with us online, everything was, filled with this newness, this excitement, and, the best of these, were the appearances of Annie and Gilbert.

…from the papers here

After he had, moved into his new residence, my son couldn’t wait to share with us, that there were, deer, strolling in his backyard, grazing. Following, were the photos he’d shot, of the pair, all close-ups, he’d said, that the deer would do what they do with him right there close by, that they’d not, felt threatened by him anymore. Then, the doe took the baby deer. And so, naturally, he’d, took footages of the baby deer’s aging processes. And, we’d shared his joys on this end of the Pacific with him, and, we’d also, updated the goings on of the doe and the baby’s lives.

My son had, bought us a home, close to the Niagara Falls, a place, in the midst of a forest, and close by, four-fifth of the nearby properties are made up of, this huge forest. In this sort of an environment, it’s only natural, that there are, wildlife like the deer, and from time to time, we’d even, heard wolves howling too.

In June, I’d flown to the States with my wife, and moved into this small cabin that’s taken care of by my son. For two years, the descriptions he’d given to us, finally got put together into whole overnight.

It was actually, a real forest, a romantic river, with the huge patches of green, the trees that stood high up, so beautiful, like scenes out of a storybook.

For a month, however, we’d only seen groundhogs, racoons, badgers, beavers………an assortment of wildlife that circled around the house, and, getting along with these wild creatures became, a major part of my wife and my life abroad, my son plan ted blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, tomatoes, and an assortment of vegetables, that all became, a part of their daily diets now. I’d chased after the animals with a bat, and my son smiled and consoled with me, “Just let them have some, it’s not like we can finish it all on our own here!”

Then, I’d bumped into an adult deer, unexpectedly.

That day, he’d abruptly, appeared, at the end of the patches out back, at the edge of the forest, my husband and I both felt that jolt inside, because although we’d known of the deer’s existence, we’d never thought, that they’d just, appeared. Before we had a chance to grab our cameras, I’d grabbed my iPad, and, shot a few pictures, but, I couldn’t tell, if it was a dog or a deer in the picture as I looked at it later, but, it’s better than having NOTHING in my records.

My son told us curiously, that for two years, the deer would walk around the house a lot, but, how come when we’d come to visit, they’d gone, into hiding. But, seeing them for the very first time, had us excited for days on end. Besides, what followed this was, an assortment of blessings, they kept, paying us these, visits!

Strolling in the Garden of Eden on Earth

The second time we’d, bumped into them, my son was beside us. My son told us, that at which time, standing on the left side of the house, right before us, was a young doe he’d named “Annie”. He’d named all the deer that frequented his home, Annie was born last June, and Gilbert was, her twin older brother. And, surely enough, we saw, another younger male too, so that must be, Gilbert then! They were very active and healthy, with eyes that glowed, very beautiful, and, if they were humans, they would definitely be, a handsome lad, and a beautiful teenage girl.

And so, we’d, stared at the baby deer, and they, at us too, later on, they’d, lowered their heads, continued, to graze, for a long while, then, they’d, left together, vanished, into the forest out back.

My son said, that last year, the adult doe vanished, for quite a while, and he’d started fearing, that if she was, eaten by the wolves, then later on, one day out of the blue, there were, two young ones that showed up in his backyard, at first look, he thought they were, puppies, but, they were, the baby deer. And that, was his first meeting with, Annie and Gilbert, and ever since, he’d become, an avid observer of their growth, and documented everything about them, and he’d established this trust and friendship with the family of deer.

doesn’t this look, like a wondeful place to live???  Not my photo…

During these days, we’d walked in the small garden, and sometimes, there were, rabbits and squirrels running around, and, several times, the rabbits almost, rammed into me. I’d wondered to myself, did I, become a harmless mobile tree to them?

There’s no shock in the interactions of man and wildlife, this, is the garden of Eden in my dreams; and, now, we’d, left our home in Rose City, Canada, that fast-paced, noisy former home of ours, we’d chosen this place, close to the forest, to live in, and, it seemed, as though, the animals had, chosen us too.

This, would be a wonderful encounter one has with the animals in the wild, and, this still just shows, how we and the other living organisms can, exist in peace together, side by side, and, this shows, just how important having the right kind of environmental values can be, after all, who wouldn’t want to wake up, in such, a beautiful place???
