Rou-Yu Wang, with the Help from Her Team of Volunteers, Shouldered Up a Safe Harbor for Those in the Poverty-Stricken Backgrounds

The dedication and the heart of this social worker is simply, amazing!!! From the Newspapers, translated…

Before the family welfare service center opened up in Keelung, it’d posted the want ads for sixteen volunteers, and since its opening, the sixteen volunteers are still working there, the center’s workers became like a big family, such a wonderful team of “golden workers” that they have, and the person who made this all possible was, Rou-Yu Wang, the supervisor, this year, she’d won the awards for excellence in social work, which was well-deserved.

Wang said, from before when the local residents needed assistance, they can only head to the social services, and, the moment they’d set foot into the offices, they were labeled, that the local office, “Ren-Shan House” hoped, to “be a good neighbor to those who need”, the first year after starting, the workers spent a lot of time, explaining to the locals the services provided, and what helps the residents can receive from the office, and they’d asked the local residents to keep an eye out for them, to help bring those who are in need of assistance into the office.

The sixteen volunteers that the office had recruited from three years ago, before the office started operating, are all still volunteering there, the ages of the volunteers ranged from the thirties who are still working, to elderly in their seventies, and, during their off-hours, they would often come in to help out around the office too, everybody is close to everybody else, they’d become, a big happy family, Wang used her heart to treat her volunteers and those who come to seek out assistance too, it’d made the Ren-Shan Center into a safe harbor for the less fortunate in the community now.

Yeng-Ling Wu told, that a decade ago, she’d married over from China, and after her husband passed away, she’d had to, raise her own two children up on her own, that they were, poverty stricken, and other than working at odds and ends jobs, she’d come to the Ren-Shan House to work too, and the group of volunteers treated her like she was their family, and, in return, she’d decorated the center warmly, so it’d had that, homey feel, and she’d start relating to Wang as her own sister too.

The leader of the volunteer team, Hsieh told, that her own children are all grown, and she now has more time to give back to the community, she’d worked as the publicity director for the dramas, taken along the troupe of never-aging elderly actors, to the various local activities centers to put on skits, and, there were those who wanted to take part in the skits after they’d watched the performances too, which affirmed what they were doing was making a difference to the community. Wang said, that the social workers must tolerate, and show empathies toward those they were helping out, she is very grateful toward her fellow workers, the supports from the volunteers, and the warmth of the feedback from the local community, which was, a huge force is helping her to keep the programs going.

So, someone saw a need for this type of work in the local community, and set it up, and, because the heart that was used to set up this program stems from the desires of making a differences in the lives of others, surely enough, a lot of people had, responded, because the act of kindness will get passed from one person to the next, that, is how the kindness cycle works…
