Kindness that’s, acknowledge, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
“Someone gave you a pot of orchids!”, the officer, Yeh saw a pot of orchids on his desk at the station, with “Your Assistance had, Helped Me So” attached, he’d blushed for a long time. Turned out, that he’d, assisted a female janitor, Tang, who was injured in a car wreck, gave her $30,000N.T.s to help her through her hard times, and Tang remembered and felt thankful.
As Tang received the money paid to her by the man who ran her over, she’d gone to the subprecinct to return the money the officer lent to her, with a pot of orchid; she said, that she was hit by the bad lucks, and that there was an officer who took money out of her own pocket to help her out, “This officer who was doing this wonderful deed needs to be noted!”
The fifty-eight year-old Tang and his daughter and son-in-law live in a rundown shack on Tong-Bei Street, her daughter works in a fast-food restaurant, her son-in-law was a for-hire house painter, her grandson was newborn. On May 19th of this year, she rode her motorcycle, and was hit by a truck making a left turn, she was taken to the Tri-Service General Hospital, the doctors diagnosed her with a broken fibula on her left leg, laceration on her left wrist, she had seven stitches, and cast on her leg, she was, wheelchair bound.
She’d taken about ten days of break, but her wounds were swollen, and the doctor found it to be cellular tissue inflammation, she went into the hospital again. And because of her injuries, she couldn’t work, she couldn’t pay her own medical fees, and the items she’d needed for her recovery cost a total of $80,000N.T.s, her daughter and son-in-law had it hard, but they’d not dared complained.
And, she’d spent the money she had on her, and not yet received the payment from the one who caused her to be in this situation, Tang can only filed a damages suit with the police; the officer, Yeh saw she was overcome with financial difficulties, he’d told her, “I’ll lend you some money”, but Tang refused, after she’d reported the incident, she’d, left. Yeh started worrying about how Tang would get by, after work, he’d rushed over to see Tang, and found, that she and her family are living in a leaky shack, he’d told her a white lie, “I’d made some money from investments, I’ll lend you $30,000N.T., and when you can pay me back, you can do it, in installments”, and he’d also stressed, “I won’t charge you interest!”
After Tang settled with the man who hit her, she’d immediately paid the officer back, and brought an orchid to the station where the officer worked, wanted to thank him in person, but, she was, immobilized, and was having it hard, hauling the potted orchid, her actions moved a couple, who’d helped her bring in the potted orchid into the Dajr Police station.
That day Yeh had a night shift, the two of them missed each other. In the evenings, Yeh saw this big gift on his desk, he felt embarrassed, that he was only helping someone who needed it. He’d smiled and told, “I’m not investing my money or anything!”, feared that Tang wouldn’t accept the money he gave to her, that, was why he’d made up how he was investing money, so Tang wouldn’t feel bad about taking the money from him.
So, this, is the kindness of the police officer, he saw this woman in need, and offered to help her out, and, in return, he received the thank you from the woman, and because this officer was kind to realize that this woman needed his help, and offered it to her without thinking twice, that, was the kindness shown to this woman he’d not even known, and, the woman returned his kindness, with a pot of flowers, to show her gratitude to him back.
