Here’s an idea!!! From the Front Page Sections, translated…
“The ninety-three year-old retired English teacher who’d become demented would always wail loudly in the past after losing his spoon, but now, as he heard the laughter from the children outside playing, he’d started, smiling too”, this elderly is a resident of the Datong Blessed Happy School, this was the very first elderly community that used a classroom from the nearby elementary school to set up the center, this center was set up, just this May, the doctor from Hsiao-Gang Hospital, Hou pointed out, that the elderly, as well as the children both needed the accompaniment, that putting the two together, it’d made a change in both their lives.
this, would be the solution to solve BOTH problems!!!
“The speed of aging population and the effects of reduced birthrate is faster than you and I can ever imagine”, Hou said, that the Department of Sanitation’s 2010 estimates showed that there are, more than twenty-percent of the local community who are over age sixty-five, after he’d seen the statistics, he’d decided to enter into the long-term care systems, and just so happens, that there’s a vacant building that was a part of the Datong Elementary School, and he’d worked with the school to set it up as an elderly daycare center.
Hou said, that the most significant difference of the center was that the elderly are interacting with the school students, that during their spare period or extracurricular activities, the students would come visit with the elderly , like playing Monopoly with them, the children hear the elderly talk about their life experiences, learned to empathize, the elderly got the company that they’d needed, since the program was started in May, it’d been fully registered for, and if there are those who want to be a part of the program, they are on the backup list.
So, this, is a great idea, isn’t it? Combining a child daycare center or elementary school after school program with a nursing home type of place, that way, the elderly can get the company they’d longed for, and the kids would be watched over until after the parents picked them up after work.
let’s S-O-C-I-A-L-I-Z-E!!!
