The Keelung office’s manager, Lin said, that in the earlier years when she’d visited the homes, she’d told the parents, “We’re social workers from the Taiwan Fund for Children & Families”, and as the parents heard they were teachers, they’d started showing enormous respect toward them, and for fifty years on end, the children and parents who were helped out by the foundation all referred to the social workers for the foundation as “teachers”.

As she worked as a social worker, there was a child who’d written her a letter, “I have another teacher, who’d visited my home regularly, asked me if I had enough to eat, if I have enough clothes on? If my dad’s feeling better, and if my mom’s work is going okay? I’m really glad that I’m different from the rest of my classmates.”, this letter had, moved her very deeply.
