Chang, with backgrounds in chemical engineering, in order to make his girlfriend, Su, with whom he was cheating on his wife with, a decade ago, used ether to poison his wife and two daughters, then, turned on the gas, to make it look like gas poisoning. On the part of murdering his two young daughter, all six of the trials gave him death sentence, but the Highest Courts in Taiwan, on the appeal of the fifth trial, gave him life in prison, and stripped him of his government service terms for life.
The Highest Courts’ fifth appeal believed, that the verdict of death sentence should only be passed down based off of two beliefs, and, basing on the fact, that as Chang and his ex-wife divorced, he’d not wanted to give up custody rights to his two children, and in the process of his divorce from his own wife he’d visited his children several times, there was no proof that the father and daughters were on bad terms with each other, Chang must’ve murdered his own wife, and feared getting found out, that, was why, he’d murdered his own young daughters as well.
And, Chang’s psychological profile stated, that there’s a chance he can be reformed, that there were no previous criminal records, and after he’d murdered his wife, he’d shown signs of trauma, that he wasn’t without conscience, that by putting him in incarceration long-term, he may think about what he’d done, and turn over a new leaf, the judge gave him a life sentence.
On the part of Chang murdering his own wife, he was confirmed to serve a life sentence, and his affair partner, Su, was also sentenced to ten years in prison, they both started serving the time already.
The kitchenware producer, Chang met his neighbor, Su through mahjong, they started having an affair, afterwards, he’d moved out of his home, and had a divorce agreement with his wife, but they’d not reached an agreement on the custody of his two young children, and, Chang’s wife phoned Su’s husband told him about her husband’s affair with his wife, Su was angry about it, and, enticed Chang to kill his own wife.
Chang (age 49), in mid-April in 2006, around midnight, used a climbing rope, propelled himself downward from the roof to the back balcony of his fifteenth floor home, made it into the house, used ether to knock his wife out, then, smothered her to death, as he was about to get away, his twelve-year-old eldest daughter got up to use the bathrooms and saw her dad, Chang feared that she would find out about him, murdering her mother so, he’d used the ether to get her eldest to pass out, and, his eight-year-old daughter who was sleeping on the bottom bunk woke, Chang subdued his other daughter, then, went into the kitchen, turned on the gas stove, so there would be a leakage, then, he’d climbed back outside using the rope he’d climbed into his house with, as Tsai and her two daughters were found the next morning, they were all, dead.
The case was ruled as an accident initially, but Tsai’s mother told the police, that her daughter came to her in a dream, told her she was murdered by her husband, and, the D.A. autopsied the bodies, and found ether, then, looked into the matter, and found, that it was Chang who’d tried to please his own whore, that was why he’d brutally, murdered his own wife and children too, and he’d sstreamed it live to Su.
As Chang was cross-examined by the D.A., he’d once asked for the death penalty; Tsai’s mother said, that he should be given death, “He was truly evil, I will NEVER forgive him.”
So, the reason for murdering his own wife and children was for the sake of pleasing his whore, and now, he can’t get away, but he’d not gotten the death penalty, because the tests showed, that there’s a chance of him becoming “normal” again after reformation, and maybe, it’s best, because that way, he will ALWAYS and FOREVER be tortured by his own guilty conscience over what he’d done to his own wife and young children!
