The Migrant Caretakers are Taking Care of the Elderly Here, So Do Treat Them with Kindness

What’s happened here, recently, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

A female Indonesia nurse’s aide had been raped multiple times by the owner of the house she came to work in,, and, although the awful boss was taken into custody by the police already, the traumas that this Indonesian female nurse’s aide undergone, as well as the bad rep that Taiwan now had, can’t be smoothed over.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare estimated, that there was a total of 122 reported rape by the foreign caretakers last year, of them, ninety were household helpers. These unfortunate incidences are on the rise, the government couldn’t intervene in time, to set up laws that help safeguard the welfare of foreign workers to choose the families they work in, along with harsher punishments for the bad owners of the households, that, is the primary reason for why these unfortunate things keep happening.

The writer’s grandparents are both elderly and immobilized, and, we’re, more than grateful toward the Indonesian nurse’s aide who’d come to assist in caring for them! The around-the-clock caretaking took care of the stresses of how we regular workers couldn’t be by our elderly grandparents’ sides. We’d treated this foreign caretaker like she was one of our own, we’d treated her kindly, and, she’d treated our elderly with kindness back too!

Besides, all of these foreign helpers came to a foreign place to work, and, not to mention not speaking the same language as the people they’re looking after, the around-the-clock looking after the elderly is also, a major source of their stress, which would ignite that strong sense of homesickness for them. The foreign workers are all friends of Taiwan too! Treat them kindly, and, the returns that Taiwan get, would be, enormous!

So, because the man raped a female caretaker who was there to help look after his own mother, that, was why the writer of this article was compelled to share her beliefs, and, she’s right, because these caretakers came here to work, to care for the elderly, aging parents that we, younger generations can’t make the time to look after, because, if we all quit our jobs to take care of our parents, who’s gonna put food on the tables? So, we should show them MORE gratitude, more kindness, instead of how what this loser homeowner did, raped the hired female nurse’s aide who was there, to take care of HIS own mother!
