It’s not wrong, OR right, it’s, how he’d, survived!
He’d learned, at a very early age, to hide his true self from everybody, because, there was, just that once, he came close, to show his true self to the ones he lived around, and, they’d, LASHED out at him, told me “NO!”, and, what he got from that was: I should never, show my true self, or, I will, get, severely, disciplined by my elders…

And so, started way back then, he’d started, hiding his true self from the rest of the people he lived with, and, before long, his true self, was, in cognito, never, to be found again, and, he was, actually, so happy, that he’d, suppressed his true self so deep, that it’d, never come out!
Then one day, on the way to school, he was, robbed, and, to defend himself from being robbed, he’d, unlashed, his true self, and, surely enough, his true self, which was, suppressed, for way too long, came out, and, not only was his true self able to, stop the robbers from robbing him, his true self had, shocked the robbers, that they’d all, become, his followers.
And that, was the end, of the days of him, suppressing his true self, and, as you may have guessed, he and his true self had, taken, many, many, many wrong roads ever since, gotten caught doing something illegal, gotten thrown into jail, and, his true self was what helped him survive in the jail systems.

After his release, he’d grown, totally and completely, reliant on his true self, it’s just that they (him and his true self!) both learned something from his experience in jail, that he has more control over his true self, and, before you know it, he’d suppressed his true self again, so deeply, that his true self, never, ever, came back out again!
