Because he’d handed over his own young son before he attempted suicide, so, the D.A. chose not to prosecute him for child endangerment, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
A man took his own one-and-a-half-year-old young son, climbed up to the roof of his five-story building, asked for his ex-wife who divorced him because of domestic violence to talk with him, he’d even lit up a lighter in the process too; D.A. prosecuted him based off of attempted murder and arson charges, but the courts believed, that he did, “hand his son over”, before he’d made it look like he was jumping off the building, besides, you can’t burn down the building with so little lighter fluid either, plus, “the love for his own son is still intact”, so the judge found him “Not Guilty”.
The officers who were fighting for the life of this young child was in disbelief after hearing the verdict; the Shihlin D.A.’s office also questioned, that if the man didn’t have the intentions of committing suicide with his own young, why would he need to take the child to the roof with him?
This thirty-seven-year-old man and his ex-wife, Lin has a son, and they lived together, in the city of Taipei; he was accused of using violence on his own ex-wife multiple times, and the family was listed as a high-risk household by the Social Services Department. Last year on the evening of October 23rd, he’d had an argument with his ex-wife, his ex-wife was scared of getting beaten up again, took their son to run, but the child was grabbed back by her ex-husband, she ran alone to her mother’s house to call up the police.
He’d blocked the front door of his building, as the police came, they kicked down the door, saw him, standing on the connecting walls of the rooftop; he’d stated, that if his ex-wife doesn’t come home, he will, take his son to jump off, and lit up the lighter fluids to threaten the police. Lin came to the scene, took her son out of his arms, he attempted to leap off, but was pulled back by the police.
He’d denied wanting to set fire to the residence, claimed, that as he’d splashed the oils, there was no fire already, that he’d done this, so the officers wouldn’t get close to him; the judge believed, that back then, the police had arrived, and it would be hard for him, to set the house on fire, plus, there was only 155 milliliters worth of lighter fluid that was spilled out, without anything to start a fire, that it’d done no damages to the apartment building; that as he carried his young son up the stairs, he’d used the blankets to wrap him up, and allowed his son to lean on his shoulder to sleep, that there was no evidences of attempted murder.
Whoa, so, this, is how you get away, with NOT even a SLAP on the wrist for putting your own young son in danger? I mean, the man DID put his own young son’s life in danger, he’d made it look like he was going to set the building on fire, and that he was, about to jump off of the building with his child in his arms, and that’s not enough “evidence”???
