Yu said, that last year her husband was hospitalized because of illness, the very next day after he had his surgery, he’d walked out of the hospital, with his drip rack still attached to his arms, walked twenty minutes to the lotto shop, to buy a lotto ticket, he was not acting like someone who’d just had a major surgery at all.
They’d been married fifty years now, and, her husbad, who was from Sandong, didn’t know how to talk sweet to her, his words were loud, and to the point, but, he was more than gentle and caring toward his wife, he knew she loved the sweetened dried fruits, and as they traveled to Yilan, he’d always bought the local specialty sweets, stuffed it into her backpack, to surprise her.
At the start of the year, the security guard at their building quit, and they couldn’t find someone to work, and Yu’s husband put himself up, at age eighty-three, he was very spirited, his back straight, and, spoke, in a loud voice, “No big deal, it’s no big deal!”, all the duties of the security officer, surveil the building, keep track of the visitors, deliveries of the mail and packages, he’d done it all. Yu said, that it was hard for her to imagine, how high her husband saw himself, that he would never do something as menial as this, but, as he got older, he could, lower himself down.

With the extra pays that her husband now has, he’d started, placing the sweetened treats into her backpack, he’d said in a caring manner, that all of these treats are for his lovely wife, who’s using a lot of her voice at work.
In order to give back to her husband, Yu no longer stayed late at the office like she used to, instead, she’d gotten off on time, and smiled as she leaves the office, “I’m going home to cook for the old man at home!”
So, this, is how this man showed his love to his wife, and, he’d found something he loved doing, he’d become, productive in his elderly years, and that, is the most important thing for the elderly in the population, to keep on being productive, to keep on giving to the community, like this elderly man is doing.
