After Pokémon Go was available for download in Taiwan, the players went into a frenzy, a college student got really into it, these past couple of days, he’d gone around, seeking out Pokémons, he’d played, at the longest, for fourteen hours a day, his eye sight deteriorated, to nearly blind.
The ophthalmologist found, that this male college student, due to his long hours of using cell phone, he’d had macular bleeding, causing his sight to fail quickly, he was already getting treated now.
This twenty-year-old college student started going out to seek the Pokémons at any time of day, to parks, the sites, even the freeways, he’d stared at his cell phone screen all day long. And even as he could no longer see clearly, he’d still followed the Pokémons around, until in the end, his field of vision became misshaped, and he’d started seeing black, that, was when he’d gone to see the ophthalmologist and eastern medicine treatments, hoping he could, get his eyesight back again.
The doctor from Chinese Medicine Department of the City Hospital, Kuo said, that there was a thirty-year-old computer engineer, who’d stared at the computer screens for over ten hours a day for work, he was originally very nearsighted already, and recently, he’d gotten into playing Pokémon Go too, after work he’d gone with his girlfriend to catch the monsters, at the age of thirty, he’d started showing signs of presbyopia already, and, he’d gone to the doctors, and the muscles around his eyes had lost their flexibil8ity, he’d damaged his lens, that in the future, he may develop macular degeneration and cataracts too.
Kuo said, that people should not be using their cell phones in places without light, especially for children, whose eyes are still developing, if they’re playing Pokémon Go for long periods of time, then, it may cause the children to develop a sudden onset of nearsightedness, causing retinal detachment, as well as eye-related illnesses such as macular degeneration too.
So, based off of medical research, Pokémon Go is bad for your health, especially when you can’t stop yourself from playing, as this game is very addictive, and once you see a creature, you’re prone to, chase it until it’s yours.
