In the Reuben Glick Little League Baseball Park, the sectional competition was held there. The Little League teams from six states fought hard, for that championship trophy under the scorching sun, and the winning team will represent the Midwest Region in William Porter World Series games.
This game was a chance, for the losing teams, Minnesota versus Indiana, the team that suffered one more loss will be heading home. The Minnesotan pitcher was slimly built, hair tied back to a ponytail, her ponytail swayed as he pitched to the wind. That sharpened look, that unemotional face, with the confidence, is very, likeable.
She was, Tina Tran, a second-generation Vietnamese immigrant. Didn’t start playing baseball until she was seven years old, she’d turned eleven, just last year, and already, the star player of team Minnesota. She’d thrown three consecutive strikes, it’d gotten her on local television too. This year, she’d become the representative of the State’s Little Leaguer team, a lot of people were comparing her to Moni Davis, expected Tina to be the girl that dominates the boys in the realms of the baseball field.
Seeing this young Asian girl, standing on the pitcher’s mound, I’m really happy. I’d given my daughter a pitcher’s glove when she was very young, and maybe, I’d had, such dreams for her too. From Moni to Tina, the girls used their performances, to prove, that the field is no longer, dominated by one sex anymore. And, more and more people are taking, “you throw like a girl” as a compliment, because girls, can pitch, right into the strike zones too.
These little girls had, broken the race and gender barriers, not only on the field. In the beginning of the autumn season of American television, it’s now, the advertising period for the programs now. Fox Television has a new drama set on the big screen at the end of September, the drama corroboration of the Big Leagues, for the first time, with the television stations. A drama about the San Diego Padres had signed the very first female pitcher in the team’s history, the role was played by the Canadian movie star, Kelly Pamperly. Pamperly’s father was a forward for the Canadian football team, the blood of sportsmen allowed her to throw the ball like she was a pro on screen. Just like Tina, Kelly grew up in Minnesota too.
“This is the moment we’d all been waiting for in the sports fields, we’d expected it a long time, and we will all, remember this moment in time.” The promo at the start of the film stated. In the fictional storyline, the girl’s father told her, that girls after they grow up, couldn’t beat out the guys with the speed of the pitches they throw, that she’d needed to, use the spirals as the pitching technique, to beat out the boys. “We can’t change the dynamics of our bodies in sports”, he said, but that doesn’t mean, that girls can’t have a chance to play for the Big Leagues.
Don’t matter when the girls will have the opportunities, to shine on the Major League games, but seeing Tina Tran stand on the pitcher’s mount, it’d dawned on me, that, is a game, that everybody loves, baseball. In the first half of this game, she’d had some problem with the flow of her ball, and her teammates had, missed a lot of catches, in a short period of time, her team was behind by five points, but, there was, no look of anxiousness in her expressions, no anger, no disappointment either, she’d still, pitched every throw with great concentration. I think, these little girls’ unrelenting persistence, is what will help the world progress in the future.
So, this, is the story of how someone had, kept her heads up, no matter how bad the time was, and this young woman’s stamina should be applauded, and she’s an example for everybody to follow, because if everybody can have her positive attitude about temporarily losing the game, then, we can all be, winners, just like how this young woman had, already won the game, according to the views of the world, because she carried that undefeated attitude about her, that will make her a huge success in life…
