We have here, a parent who just, gives, gives, and gives, endlessly to his son’s demands in life, translated…
Awhile ago, Uncle Jiang from next door bought a third car for his eldest son, because the last car was totaled after he’d gotten drunk behind the wheels last month; as for his first car, well, it’d gotten totaled the same way, the four wheels were so totaled that they’d turned into, one large wheel. The blessing in all of this was, Uncle Jiang’s eldest only walked away with minor scratches on him, and he’d not hit anybody else. But, would Lady Luck keep watching over a man who drives drunk? The neighbors all consoled with Uncle Jiang, to not buy his son another car, but he’d told, “How can that be? He’d not have a car to drive, he’s, very, pitiful!”, not having a car to drive is pitiful, then, what about the elderly population who’d gotten scammed out of their retirement money? We should really, pity the parents now.
this, is EXACTLY what we don’t want to see!!!
And, the money for this car, is the final amount that’d been saved by the eighty-year-old Uncle Jiang his whole life. And, his retirement pension had, been swallowed by his eldest son, not only did his son fail in his business ventures, or that he’d made, bad investments, or that he’d taken the money to China and kept a woman there, or lost all of it, gambling on the tables. Or maybe, that’s a personal choice, but the problem is, every time something bad happens, Uncle Jiang would rush to his own son’s rescue, hurriedly stepped out to help put out the fires his son started—he’d sold the house which was originally supposed to be the dowry of his third daughter off, to pay off his eldest son’s debts, and the assets that were going to his second child originally, to fill up the hole that his eldest dug. As for the one who’d gotten into too much trouble already, Uncle Jiang never even scolded him one bit, instead, he’d told his other children who worked hard to make their separate livings, to help this black sheep of the family out. Can the parents’ love really, cover up all the mistakes?
At the end, even the small apartment complex that his eldest gloated about that he can pay for was put up, for the bank for foreclosure, and, the family of five was, out of options, so they’d, moved back in with Uncle Jiang. Other than paying up his son’s loans, Uncle Jiang needed to take care of everybody else’s care too; the retirement pension that he’d gotten, was used, to pay for the fees of his grandchildren’s education. All of us neighbors and old friends, can only keep shaking our heads as we watched.
arrested development
The proverbs said, “bring up the children for the sake of being looked after in old age”, I think, that this current time, if you don’t set a loss point and put up the firewalls, you’d needed to, stop your young from sucking you dry first.
So, because the son knew that his daddy will always clean up his mess, so naturally as he got into trouble over, over, and over again, he’d cried to his daddy, and the father was feeding to his son’s leeching properties, providing for him, endlessly, and this, is a vicious cycle, and the father still can’t get himself to stop helping his own son, after all, he is, his blood!!!
