The Twists & Turns in Sparrow’s Life

On becoming, translated…

From the LINE group of my technical high school friends, a new message came, “We’d found Sparrow, she’s now, a teacher of Japanese songs who’s mildly famous now!”, but, everybody was doubtful, back then, we’d only heard the recitations of texts from her, we’d never heard Sparrow sung any songs, how did she become, a teacher who teaching people to sing in Japanese?  I’d viewed the video recording of Sparrow, teaching her pupils to sing in Japanese, her gently voice sounded like the famous Japanese singer, so very, sweet, enough, to take me, back to the days of old again.  Until we’d met back up and started chatting, I’d learned that Sparrow’s life was exactly like the “Traffic Lights of Fate”.

Sparrow said to us, in a tone of ease, that the life she’d bumped into, she could spend an entire three days and three whole nights, to tell us about, and she’d not be completely finished.  After she’d part-timed her way through technical high school, she’d gone to a tour bus company and worked as a tour guide, naturally, she’d learned to sing the songs, to get the passengers active on the rides, so, she’d worked hard, learned the songs in Taiwanese and Japanese too, and because she went shopping for the tapes to listen to, she’d, met up with her husband who owned a karaoke shop.

She thought that her life was all set, but, after an accident, Sparrow’s husband fell and never got back up again, losing the love of her life all of a sudden, that, was the first red light in her life, she’d not known how she could, possibly, get on with the rest of her life, but being tough as she was, she’d, decided, to heal herself up completely, then, move on, she’d turned to singing, using it as a main focus of her life, to raise her two girls into adulthood.

In singing, she was blessed, to have many who’d, offered her a hand when she’d needed, the singing instructor who taught Sparrow to sing, after she’d become more matured in her singing techniques, she’d told her, “You can start teaching your own singing class now.”  With the instructor’s affirmation and her own hard work, she had a ton of students.

from the papers…

Once, there was a retired physician and his wife who came to take singing lessons from her, they asked Sparrow, “Where did you graduate from for college?”, back then, Sparrow who felt inferior, said, she’d only gotten a technical high school education, after the physician heard, he’d told her, “I’d asked you this, not because I belittle you, it’s because your teaching style and singing are truly, of professional standards!”, Sparrow told us, the physicians words seemed to have, boosted her self-confidence, making her more and more confident in herself by the day.

I imagine, that the experience that Sparrow had so far in her life is like that saying of “how when god closes a door on you, he will open another window.”  Sparrow also said, that she has a dream she’d been putting on hold for so long, she’d taught Japanese singing her whole life, her biggest regret was not having gone to college, with a degree from the Japanese majors; and all of us, classmates, we’d all believed, that in the near future, that diploma, will surely, be hers.

So, through the twists and turns of this woman’s life, losing her spouse, losing herself, with only a high school education, she’d still, followed her dreams, became a good singing teacher, and now, she’d set another goal for herself, to get a college degree, and, she will attain it, because of her hardworking mannerism.
