Choosing a Silent Kind of Freedom

Commentaries, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

Mohammed Ali the boxer who’d died at the start of June this year, although in the last thirty-two years of his life, he was deeply affected by Parkinson’s, slowly, retreated from the masses, after he’d died, the cares and concerns still poured in from all over.  Ali was definitely not just a hero in the boxing ring, he’d left his mark, in the matter of civil rights movement, freedom of religion, as well as standing against the war in Vietnam.  For this, people nicknamed him, “The Greatest” or “The People’s Champion”.

The New York Daily had posted a column, mentioned the contributions that Mohammed Ali made to the people in the world, it’d gained widespread fame, and sparked up the debates too.  The writer compared the retired Yankee’s shortstop, Jeter, and criticized how the sport star had been “dishonest”, “disregarding social justice”, “a human version of a Bobblehead”, compared to how Ali always spoke up, at the right moments he’d needed to, and that all Jeter cared about was his income from the commercials, that he’d not dared, voiced any of his own beliefs aloud.  This article corresponds with how bloodthirsty the New York Daily style, and because of how muckraking it is, although it’s a local paper in New York, the printed version had reached the list of the highest in the States.

Looking at the older times, especially using the currently well-known sports stars as the bestsellers, it does add, to the readability.  But, this was also, what caused the media to lack the number of hits, using those rants, the articles published under this method, surely, they’d gotten a ton of instant hits.  Jeter, after Ali passed away, like most sports stars, thanked him for opening the doors for those who came after, it’d become, the focus.

Actually, this, is the common problem of commentaries.  A lot of people loved using the past, to make fun of the present, but the problem lies in that none of us are old enough.  And, putting the already deceased sports figures on that high pedestal, but using our double-standards, criticizing the sports figures who are currently active is unfair.

Plus, not everybody needed to share their opinions on everything.  On most of the social matters, the NBA star, James who’s in the same status quo as Jeter was very active, but always kept his deeds not known to all.  As many treated criticisms as entertainment, rushed to make judgments, “no comment” became, even more of a rarity, even, a precious choice that one can make.

We should think, are we all, too quickly, to rush to judgment about someone else’s life?  More importantly, can we become, the person we want to become?  I believe, that whether it’s Ali who’d voiced his opinions, or Jeter who’d chosen to stay silent, they’re both, conveying the same beliefs.

So, don’t RUSH to judgment about someone not getting worked up on some issues in your parts of the world, because, maybe, just MAYBE, the person is process the information s/he receives using a way that fitted her/him best, and, this shows how there are multiple perspective, that we should all, LEARN to respect one another, no matter what!
