The Society Ranted, and the Female Nurse Became the Scapegoat

From the Front Page Sections, translated…

Every now and then, there would be new of violence in the hospitals, and the most usual victims are, the nurses.  The Sanitary Welfare Department reacted strongly to the matter wanted the amendments, to increase the severity of punishment for the offenders, to improve the hardware of the hospitals, as well as upgrading the alert systems too.  All of these, are important implementations, but the writer believes, that this has more to do with the genders’ power struggles, as well as the trend of “ranting” in Taiwan right now.

not my photograph…

Analyzing past instances, there’s a correlation between the nurses being victimized being females.  Whether it be in the E.R. or the regular doctors’ offices, it’s not difficult, to find the doctors or other targets of one’s attacks.  The females in the population are smaller in frames by comparisons, and are less likely to fight back and win, and, as people find someone to bully, they’d, normally, avoid people who are larger in frames.  Nursing is a profession, but, most of the nursing staff are consist of females, so, they’d become, easy targets.

………

In order to prevent this sort of violence, the writer believes, that these incidents should be treated exactly like bullying, with everybody who was there (coworkers, patients, family members of the patients, the police officers, etc., etc., etc.) standing up to protect the victim, to stop the violent behaviors from keep going, and to report the incidents (filming the footage as evidence).  If we keep on carrying this aloof attitude, this ignorance toward verbal and behavioral abuse, then, the vicious cycle of violence will continue.

Call this, a job hazard if you will, because nurses are female primarily, and, women are known to have less strength than men, so, why we get bullied, we may not know how to effective fight back, which make us into targets time and time again, and, we must all work together, to put an end, to this sort of unjust, unfair kind of treatment for the ladies who are working hard, to take care of the ill…
