A Misbehaving Dog

Not all pets are created equal here!!!  Translated…

That day, we’d taken Beans, our dog, to the Luti Dog Park to play, in the dog park, dogs can be off-leash and run and play as they wished, all the dogs loved it, and from time to time, they are able to, make new friends too, for instance, Eggs, from the Sinwu Shelter, his dark brown coat glowed underneath the bright sunlight, he’d not looked at all like his former days, the two of them were, having a lot of fun.

By the rest area outside of the dog park, a group of people are sitting and resting, taking it easy, there was, an elderly woman with a Jack Russel terrier, and the elderly kept stressing how rare the dog was to get, how it was so very hard, for her, to get him, this dog looked very different from the rest from the outside in, I’d kept it held down, just, watched this Jack Russel Terrier, keep on, coming, to harass my dogs.

“Is your dog not neutered?  She’s so worked up.”  The elderly woman proclaimed loudly, “How can I possibly take her to get spayed?  I just can’t find the another male of the same breed so she can have the babies, so I can sell them for more money!” “There’s little stability in dogs that aren’t neutered or spayed, and there might be health problems that comes later, and if you wanted to keep her as a pet, there’s no need to let her have babies.”  I’d held on to my patience, as I explained it to her, the complaints I’d not voiced was, STOP harassing MY dogs!  “This dog is very different from those dogs without the pedigrees!”

Reason why I’d recalled this was, last week I’d bumped into a man in the pet resting area of Chingshui Rest Stop, he’d placed a teacup poodle onto the picnic tables, that dog was so small, that it’s no bigger than the foot of a human being.  The man looked like he was a dog lover, kept playing with our dogs, and asked us where we’d gotten him from, and what breed our dogs were.  In the end, he’d gone and washed his hands, then, carried his own dog away and left.

I can understand this kind of owners, why would the Animal Protections have the debates on wildlife protection, pet protections, and why after the white dog was abused to death at the army base, some people would get so very angered, and would get laughed at by others for being improper, should the values of the lives of dogs be related to the breeds?

I thought about the muntjacs that lost their lives by the traps the hunters set, along with the leopard cats that became roadkill; those cattle or sheep that fought hard to get the foods of the tourists; or those chickens and pigs that were too overfed, that turning their bodies became troubling to them; thought about those puppies and kittens that became window display after they were born; thought about all the animals that were bred again and again, for the sake of entertaining our own next generations.  And because we can’t see that they are living beings, all we cared about is whether or not our living environments were breached into, that are the meats we put on our supper tables cheap enough, or is the coat color of the pets we bought from the pet shops show off our statuses.

Seeing the news of animals being abused and killed is heart wrenching, because the ones who’d slaughtered them, are the being that they trusted the most, humans, and, the reason why they’d lost their lives is not for the sake of feeling anybody’s stomach, but for the sake of torture, this still doesn’t mean, that the lives of dogs and cats are weighed heavier compared to the other kinds of pets, the problem being, that a life is not being acknowledged: people who don’t see life, wouldn’t care if the animals being slaughtered as food, when they died, did they die in the least painful ways or not.

The mindset of protecting animals, is slowly, progressing, sure.  Because by cherishing the animal companions you may have, as you’re buying the eggs, you’d think about the living conditions of the hens, and start paying more attention to the over-developments in nature, the deforestations, and you’d feel sad about a snake that mistakenly got into someone’s home that got chopped up, and there’s no ambiguity in that.

Animals are not for the sake of entertainment, nor are they just food, they’re live companions, a life, with the process of being born, and dying too, and thus, they should have the proper respects and be remembered by those who loved them, and, as the lives are being considered equals, there would be nothing that’s messing things up, other than the humans who are in control of the lives of animals.

So, just because your animal is breed-specific, that doesn’t mean, that it’s on a higher level of status quo, but that, is the genuine belief system that people tend to carry, a stereotype, that mixed breeds of animals have a lower status quo than the breed-specific pets, but hey, a life is a life, is a life, and, all lives are created equal!!!
