A fifteen-year-old student from a certain technical high school in the hair designs department up north went to a salon for her internship, there was no online services in her dormitory, she’d “offered” herself to the salon’s male assistant, to trade for the Wi-Fi usage code, and afterwards, she’d sued Lin for rape; the Taipei District Court found Lin guilty for having sex with an underage minor, gave him a six-month sentence, he’s on probation for three years.
The legal world pointed out, that the quid pro quo for sex doesn’t necessarily need to be monetary, that any sort of trade would constitute as a trade-off; sharing the internet passwords constitute as cheap gains, but Lin had used this to entice a sixteen-year-old girl to have sex with him, and so, this case should be decided based off of the laws against the sex trade.
The verdict pointed out, that the technical high school girl turned fifteen last year, that in the summers, she’d gone to the salon which cooperated with her school to intern, lived in the interns’ dorms; at two in the morning, on July 9th of last year, the twenty-four year-old styling assistant, Lin suggested that he could tell her his own personal Wi-Fi usage code to her, and the trade-off was that she was to have sex with him, she’d agreed to it, and, immediately thereafter, they’d had sex inside her dorm room.
The female student felt regretful for what she’d done afterwards, she’d reported it to the police, and went to the hospital for her rape kit; the D.A. collected the evidence from the reports by the police as well as the hospital records, and indicted Lin. As the trial was in session, Lin admitted to what he’d done.
The verdict pointed out, that in order to satisfy his own desires, Lin had invited a not-yet-sixteen-year-old student to have sex with him, that it’d affected the victim’s psychological developments in the future, but Lin was still young, with no priors, and was given a six-month sentence. He’s on probation for three years, and in order to prevent him from offending again, the judge mandated that during Lin’s probation, he’d needed to perform forty-hours of community services and needed to take two courses on education too.
And this is still WRONG if you asked me, shouldn’t the girl also be punished??? I mean, she’s the one who “offered” herself to this man, and no doubt that this man took advantage, and I’m still not standing on the side of the perp, I’m just saying, that should this young lady BE forced to take responsibilities for what she’d “sold” herself for too??? And, what kind of an example is that setting, for future references???
