Being the middle generations, having a difficult time, because your children are still minors, and, your elders are, growing older so very fast, before your eyes, and, you’re, STUCK!!! Translated…
When we were younger, we’d loved chasing after the infinite number of possibilities, and, in just one thought, we’d, chosen to stay abroad, chasing our dreams. Back then, our sights were set too short, couldn’t see into the distance, didn’t know, that the decisions we’d made back then had, quietly, buried the seeds of not knowing where to turn as we are today.

The two difficulties revolved around how our elders are aging back in our home countries, and we still have children who are growing up, in the foreign places, and, the hardships come, as we can’t disregard our responsibilities as their families, not being able to, weigh the pros and cons fully and decisively.
In recent years, with our elders getting older by the day, the drive for wanting to visit them back at home grew and grew, but, this simple thought became, truly, very difficult, for children, who’d traveled abroad. Not being able to go, it’s not an excuse, but the reality we’re conflicted by. My elders and I were, separated by the seas and the distances, and, even though, I’d, traveled to and from, lived my days as nights, and nights as days, but I couldn’t, ignore, the effects on my children, on my family, of each and every long journey I’d, needed to take.
From time to time, I’d imagined, that if my elders are in Taiwan, heading home would turn into, this simple action, that I can just, pick up and go, this, would be, such a wonderful life then. And still, returning to my reality, now, I just want my children to grow up quickly and well, become truly, independent, so I can, return back to Taiwan without worries, to accompany my own, aging parents.

This, would be the problems that the “middle generations” are faced with today, they’re STUCK in the middle, between their own parents getting older, and their kids, still quite young and needing them by their sides, and so, these middle generations needed to, take care of their young, and, not being there by their parents’ sides, but, I won’t be having such problems, because I’d gotten, everything, sorted out, but, this, is a HUGE problem, of the “middle generations”, the second generations, the parents, with the children, and their own parents…
