Accompanying Your Child, a Lesson for ALL Parents

Call this, a what-not-to-do session if you will, taken from my own experiences and the experiences of others…

Hey son, what’s wrong?  How’s school today?  The child (who’s now a teen!!!) remained silent, and acted all cool and all that, because that, is the way teens are???

The parent continues, I got a call from your school teacher today, what did you do???  You got detention today, didn’t you?  And this, puts the child in a DEFENSIVE position, and you can see, anger and resentment, slowly, rising up from his eyes now.

Then, doors slam, someone screams, someone cries, and things don’t get resolved, and what’s worse, is that that teen who just got a valid driver’s license may storm out of the house in anger, and get into the car, and, because s/he needed to get RID of the upheavals in her/his emotional states, s/he is more than likely, to drive fast, and, end in a car crash, and the worst case scenario is that the teenager got hurt, or even, died, in a car crash!

And now, let’s look at another way that you, stupid (b/c you ALL are!!!) parents can more effectively, handle “it”…

Your kid still comes home angry, s/he had a bad day at school, and the moment s/he walked into the house, you’d immediately, noticed that something wasn’t quite right, but instead of prying what had happened out of her/him, you’d allowed her/him to simmer down first.

Then later on that evening, at the dinner table, you asked, hey, what was going on earlier today, you looked angry when you walked in.  And your child doesn’t feel offended, because you’re NOT blaming her/him for anything, just stating your observations.

And that opens the door, to communication…

So, all you really need, is to remain SILENT, parents, and, STOP those urges of needing JUMP in, to save your own young, they can save themselves, otherwise, they wouldn’t BE fit to live here on this planet, hello, hello, hello???  Just allow your offspring to cool down, and, I’m sure, that eventually, s/he will come clean to you on what’s bugging the hell out of her/him, and the worst thing any parent can do, when a kid is pissed off is PRODDING, I would know, because god KNOWS how many times as a teenager I’d wanted to be left alone, and she’d prodded, and, I’d just, exploded, and she wondered why…oh yeah, it’s that time of the month for her (me, that is…)!!!
