Secondhand Uniforms, Teaching a Lesson in Life to the Children

From the Front Page Sections, teaching children to value the resources, translated…

I’d gone with my daughter to register for school, and found the entrance had the old uniforms left behind by the girls of previous school years, that are welcome for the new students to try on and take away.  These uniforms don’t really look that old, and, there’s also, a donation box next to them, and, I’m thinking, that the school is going to use the money collected on bettering the school, and, those who don’t donate are also more than welcome to take the previously owned uniforms, so the previously owned clothes can be used again.

All of these uniforms looked very cleanly, and, I imagine, that the parents must’ve put in a lot of thoughts in keeping them that way; the tops, the pants, and the skirts were all, ironed and fixed.  Maybe, other schools have similar behaviors too, but this was the very first time I’d seen it, and was moved by it, I hoped, that my daughter can learn in this atmosphere, and develop the values of saving her assets and helping others.

At this time, my daughter pulled on me to leave, stated, “just buy new ones!”, I’d told her, yeah, it’s not like we don’t have enough money to buy the uniforms new, but, why waste these older ones that are still in good conditions?  We can take them, then, donate the money we were to use on buying the new uniforms, so the school can put the money to better uses, isn’t that better?  My daughter was still unwilling to wear someone else’s hand-me-downs, but agreed.  I think, I’d, given her a lesson on life, she will get it.

We’d often hesitated when we see others who needed our assistance, and, as we thought on it, we’d not, lent a helping hand.  Without knowing, that sometimes, a small action from us, a small good thought, can change things completely.

Maybe, if everybody is willing to pull in her/his share, to give more, than, we can all, make ourselves, into the small piece that the world can’t live without too.

So, this, is from an interaction with the external environment, and this mother is right, in instilling the values in her own daughter, plus, the previously worn uniforms were all washed and cleaned, it’s just been owned by someone else previously, and, the students here needed to buy new uniforms every single school year, and, imagine how much resources can be saved, if we take advantage of these hand-me-downs???
