This, would be how fitting this daughter is, from the Newspapers, translated…

The student from Hsinxing Middle School, Cheng made very high grades, but, because she’d wanted to fulfill her filial piety duties toward her own father, she’d given up the chance of attending the first all-girls’ high school in Taipei, and chosen to go to a community high school instead.  She’d said, that her father wasn’t healthy, so that was why she’d chosen to go to school closer to home, hoped to help out with the household chores, to take care of her own families.

Cheng’s high school entrance exam grades are high enough to get her into the First All Girls’ High School in Taipei, but she’d watched how hard her parents worked from morning until late in the evenings, she’d turned her respect and love for them into the driving force for her to study hard, chose to go to a high school in the community, Da-Tong High School.  Her school counselor tried persuading her not to give up on going to the First All Girls’ High School, hoped that Cheng could write the school as a choice for her, or even, get into a private high school, on scholarship, to help out with her household finances, but Cheng had made up her mind.

Since she was in her elementary years, Cheng had been helping her family out, she’d helped her mother who worked at a supermarket, post the price stickers on the merchandises, restock, reshelf, and as she’d entered into middle school, although the course load became heavier, she’d not needed any cram school sessions, just paid attention in class, took good notes.  In the future, going to Da-Tong High School, Cheng said, “I can help out more with the dishes, taking out the trash too, so my dad’s health can improve quicker,”, other than feeling glad, her parents also respected her decision.

So, this, is a young woman, who’d CHOSEN to give up on the top notch schools, just so she could stay closer to home to help out her parents, and if that’s not being a good and fitting daughter, I don’t know what would be…
