The Real Story Behind the Son Slapping His Own Incontinent Father, the Authoritarian Caretaking Style

What, had caused this man to become abusive to his own father, let’s see, shall we???  From the Front Page Sections, translated…

“Do call out loudly: I need help!”, the Family Care Foundation’s Secretary, Chen pointed out yesterday, that the male caretakers normally believed, that caring for the ill is the business of the families’, plus they felt that they shouldn’t parade around the awful things in one’s own houses, so most weren’t willing to ask for help from without; actually, in Sweden, there was a law set up, “caretaking IS the business of the nation!”, stating, “I need help!”, is no shame at all.

Chen pointed out, that male caretakers would find it hard, to ask for assistance, Chih was a classic case especially he thought he’d given his own father a set of rules, that his father should be making the progresses, but in the end, “the reality always fell short of expectations”.

Plus Chih’s father left home when he was young, they’d not become connected one bit, and they didn’t establish that sense of trust in the caretaking relationship yet, with the mixed emotions mingling, domestic violence happened, they’d suggested that the Chiayi Social Services Department should start inquiring how willing the caretakers would be, to care for the ill.

She’d stated, that most Taiwanese people believed, that after the father had a stroke, the burdens of the care would naturally, land on the son, but she believed, that this is a tradition that needed to be broken, Sweden had already set up the laws, that caretaking of the elderly population IS the responsibilities of the government, that the right way was to seek out support from the government.

So, this, is the debate that was sparked, after this case of the son, abusing his own father who’d become, incontinent, and this father never even provided for HIS own children when they were growing up, and now that he’d needed to be looked after, he’d come back, and demanded that his own son provide the care, the son naturally felt uneven, and in the heat of the moment, he’d, abused his own father…
