A man, Liu took his youngest son (age 16) out with his wife to a creek to fish, his son was left alone in the waters, all of a sudden, Liu lost sight of his own son who can swim, he’d immediately dove down, two, three times, and still didn’t discover his own son, he’d gotten up to shore and immediately called emergency, and, as the police and firefighters finally got his son out, he’d lost his heartrate already.

Liu and his wife originally had three sons, the second son died in the earthquake on September 21, he’d had another son with his wife, “we want to have him (the second born) back again.”, but, their youngest drowned; Liu felt awful, that his son will never get to go to high school now, “I’d done him wrong”, he’d vowed, that he will NEVER go fishing again.
Liu, who drove a cab in Dong-Shi District said, that for twenty years, his hobby had been fishing, that his son can’t swim, and didn’t like the water, and from his fishing trips before, he’d not followed, but yesterday, because summer’s here and he’d wanted to play, that, was why he and his wife brought their son to the creeks, he’d warned his son, to just tread the water, to NOT swim.
“I’d done him wrong…”, Liu covered up his face, as he cried in front of his son’s shrine, his son was right there, next to him, just, treading water, and all of a sudden, he’d run to where the waterfall came down, to play in the waters, he’d called out to his son, his son didn’t answer, and found that a hundred meters away, his son’s flip flop had floated up, he thought, that something happened, he immediately dove down, but didn’t find him, he’d hollered out to his wife on shore, to call the rescuers.

The Dongshih Fire Substation’s paramedics arrived, and, found the youth, they’d pulled him to shore, there wasn’t any pulse, they’d rushed him to the Dongshih Farm Workers’ Hospital for emergency resuscitation, but he’d still died.
The police pointed out, that the creek where the teen was found was very hard to find, that only locals would go fish there, that yesterday, the water was calm, but there were several whirlpools not fitting for swimming. The police told, that they will see the coroner’s report to clarify the cause of death of this teen.
Liu said that his son got into Changhwa Arts High School, was a very well-behaved child, that he’d gone to church to help out the day before yesterday, that he’d wanted to take the time to spend with his son, but, he’d had to, bury him now.

So, this just shows, how unsafe it is, to play in the unchartered areas of the waters, and this happened in a local stream, and, because it’s not by the poolside, or the beaches, there’s NO lifeguard to watch over the individuals, and, the parents were keeping an eye on their own young, that, was why this death had happened. Another young life, lost………
