The Mother in the Emergency Room

Observations, translated…

My mother went into the emergency room, there was, a big boy in the bed next to hers, he had a gauze over his forehead, his body curled up, he’d looked at us, with this empty gaze, and would, making gurgling sounds a lot.  There weren’t that many doctors or nurses in the E.R., the sounds he made echoed in the empty space, but nobody seemed to care, and even if someone’s curious, nobody prevented the person from checking it out.  I’d curiously wondered, where’s the family of this boy?

a mother, looking after her own…

Turns out, that his mother was close by, wearing a smile constantly, had she not gotten close to the boy, and shushed him, I would’ve thought that she’s just an unknown stranger to him.

The boy still made the weird noises, and would search for the mother with his gazes.  I saw that this mother would play a game of hide and seek with her son, as the boy discovered his own mother’s whereabouts, he’d smiled, and his mother too, smiled.

The boy seemed to not be able to talk, and when his mother asked him something, he could only make primitive noises, but, his mother seemed to be able to read his mind, can understand what the boy was thinking about, and managed, to fulfill his needs.  It must’ve been really difficult, taking care of a child with a handicap like this.

There was a young woman who lain opposite of the boy, without families close by, when the woman wanted to get up, the boy’s mother immediately went over, to help her steady herself, helped her put on her socks and shoes.  Because she’s getting transferred to the regular wards, I’d heard that mother tell her, “Get well soon!”

not my photograph still…

I’d found, that she’s a very motivated and an upbeat mom, she’d gone through the E.R., and when she saw someone in need, she’d immediately given her hand to help out; not only did she help the nurses calm the patients, helped the patients to the restrooms, she’d also hopped around, to get the other children’s attention, adding that scene of calmness to the emergency room.

Seeing the mother interacting with this boy, I’d gotten the understanding of “Because God couldn’t look after every one of the children, so, he’d created a mother for each of them.”, I wish this pair of mother and son the best.

So, from what’s described, the mother must’ve been in and out of the hospitals with her son, and, in the time she’s not looking after her son, she’d helped others who were there, waiting to be treated, and it’s all, out of the kindness of her own heart, and, maybe, because of her son’s conditions (it didn’t say what!), that, was why she’d become, very empathic toward other people’s needs…
