An Impromptu Reunion

In middle school, to increase the rates of continuing our education, every year, there would be, reassignment of classes.  The first two years, I was in the lower status classes, by the last year, I’d gotten assigned to a class, with higher level of learning.

Because of this, I’d cut off my ties with my former classmates, and not gotten any notices of class reunions.  Forty, fifty years later, a classmate from back then found me, invited me to the reunions.  Although I’d wanted to go, but, because I was so very busy at work.  My classmate told me, you don’t have to come, we’ll come over to you, to dine at the restaurant where you work.

And, just like so, every three, to five months, there would be, two to three of my former classmates who’d shown up before me, with their other classmates, from other schools too.  And because we hadn’t seen one another a long time, we’d brushed shoulders and not recognized one another; and after she’d asked other employees, she’d learned that I worked close to the entry, came over to me said, “I’m Yi-Shue Lee, you didn’t even say hi to me as I entered.  Fine, we won’t eat here, let’s just leave now.”, skipping through the years, I’d focused my visions, I can tell, that it was, her all right.  I’d used her ways on her too, said, “You’re like me too, not making the recognition!  Stop being so childish now, it’s been fifty years already, you’d changed, as had I, naturally, we don’t, recognize one another.  If you still looked like you had back in middle school, wouldn’t you be a weirdo?”

And, as I was getting busy, I can only carry on in spare conversations like this with my classmates, and hearing my friends tell of their life’s stories.  And of course, my classmates don’t necessarily come in to eat, just passing by, to say “hi”, I’m more than happy, in this sort of reunions without the forms.

So, your reunion isn’t formal, it’s just, bumping into one another where you’d worked, and, you are aware, that your former classmates had, made the trip, to where you’d worked to see you especially, which made you cherish the time spend, however short it may be, interacting with them more.
