The couple, Wang from Nantou was accused of using blunt object, hitting his father’s head, killing him, dumping his body into the river, and drowned his own mother for the half-a-million-dollar’s worth of insurance, the District Court in Nantou yesterday gave Wang life sentence for murdering his own mother, his wife didn’t get charged; and on the murder of his own father, the judge found there to be insufficient evidence, both were fund not guilty.
The judge of the Nantou District Court, Liao said, he’d considered that Wang had taken care of his bedridden and bipolar mother, he’d been strained, and, it’s because of the stresses from taking care of his parents that caused him to murder his own parents, and after Wang was taken into custody, he still worried about his own wife and children, which showed that he still had the values of the family, that he’s not cold-blooded, that there’s a possibility to reform him, that there’s no need to strip him of his life, that, was why he was given the life sentence.
The Nantou District Attorney’s Office’s Managing D.A., Chang said, that the District Attorneys will file for an appeal. As Wang’s wife heard the verdict, she’d exclaimed that “Justice is murder”, stressed the innocence of her husband, that she will go for an appeal.
And, because there’s no direct evidence that this man did kill his parents for the sake of getting the life insurance pay-off, and he does show remorse, that, was why he’d not been sentenced to death.
