And, you DO understand, how this case angered the American public, right?  Just because this guy is a sports star, he’d only received that SLAP on the wrist, for R-A-P-E!!!  From the Front Page Sections, translated…

Last year in January, there was someone from outside the school campus, who was raped, in the fraternity house, by the gold medal swim champ, the defendant only received six months in jail, not only the victim thought it was not punishment enough, even the law professors in Stanford had started this petition, to get the judge who’d ruled on this case off the bench too.

The defendant was the twenty-year-old, Turner, the victim was a twenty-three year-old female, she’d gone to a certain frat party back in January of last year. She’d only recalled that she’d had a couple of drinks, then, passed out, two of the students from Stanford found her clothes taken off, behind a dumpster, with Turner on top of her, the two students who saw shouted, and grabbed a hold of Turner so he couldn’t get away, and they’d called the police, Turner was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, with the maximum possible sentence of fourteen years.  Turner had since been expelled from Stanford.

The judge, Persky, residing this case was also a Stanford alumnus, on the second of this month, he gave Turner a six-months jail sentence and three years probation, reason being that Turner had no priors, and, he was intoxicated, and the defendant couldn’t be held accountable for his behaviors under the influence. The judge said, that the probation terms will be decided on the local jail which Turner would be sent to serve his time.

here he is, sitting in the courtroom…

Turner claimed that the sexual intercourse was consensual, the victim blamed Turner for not admitting to wrongdoing, and she’d shown up at the courts, and stated that the judge only cared about the defendant’s school record and his career as an athlete, and gave him a slap on the wrist, and she’d asked, that if the perpetrator wasn’t a sports star from a famous school, could he be getting nothing more than just that slap on the wrist too? The victim believed herself to be the victim of sex and class order, the objections of over 2,700 words she’d written was posted by BuzzFeed, and in just a few days of her posting, there were, over five million who’d read it, and the anchorwoman from CNN used nearly half an hour of airtime, to read the statement LIVE on the sixth.

Turner’s father had written a letter to the judge before the verdict came, claimed, that his son’s future was ruined, “in just twenty minutes”, and, he’d blamed the effects of alcohol for his own son’s behaviors. He believed that his son shouldn’t be sent to jail, claimed, that his son had fallen into a state of depression since and anxiety too, and that he’s now, a registered sex offender, said that he used to make extra large ribeye steak for his son to eat, and now, his son couldn’t take a single bite, “the verdict had destroyed Turner and our family in more ways than one.  The punishment is already enough.”

The D.A. of Santa Clara, Rosen believed, that the sentence was too lenient, “Rape is rape, doesn’t matter if it’d occurred inside or outside the school campuses”. The judge residing the case was voted onto his post by the people, he said, “if you believe, that it’s rare for those with good grades to commit crimes, it’s the same as telling the women, that they do NOT deserve the full protections of the California penal codes in the university campuses.”

The local legal realm mostly believed, that Persky was a more than fair judge, that they believed that justice was served in this case. The spokesperson for the courts said, that because Turner is going for an appeal, so Persky is not at liberty to make a comment.

So, you can see, how this verdict can piss off the mass public, right? Because this guy is a champ of a sports team at Stanford, that, is why he’d only received, a slap on the wrist, and sure, he can blame it on the alcohol, but, he shouldn’t have been drinking in the first place, and this is still happening, and because this guy is a sports star, that, is why he got a comparatively light sentence, compared to if it were some other man who’d committed the same rape…
