My Wife on Stage

The hardworking attitude of a woman, giving it ALL, rehearsing for her role in a play, there ARE, no SMALL parts, as this woman had proven! Translated…

“I’m going on stage to perform now!”, my wife waved her arms like an excited child, with that look of excitement, as she walked past me, she’d, given me, an air-kiss.

Three years ago, my wife got involved in a not-for-profit organization, helped instill the values of recycling in the mass public, and advocated the importance of reading. Last September, the volunteer group started a drama sector, first, it’d pushed forth the “Organic Rice Clubs” to advocate people eat more rice, the contents usually revolved around how if people can eat more organic rice, the rice that were planted without the chemical fertilizers, that it’d not only better their health, it’d also, benefit the environment, so other living organisms can live in peace with humans, sharing this environment.

In the story, there were the characters of SpongeBob Square Pants, Frog, Egret, and a jacana, my wife was the egret, although she’d only had five lines, but in the thirty-minute long script, she’d needed to, work alongside the other three characters’ conversations, and needed to express herself facially according to what is going on, and so, she’d, bobbled her head for a bit, then, swayed her hips from side to side………wow, seeing how my wife who’s over fifty, after getting the scripts, she’d taken a short break after supper, then started rehearsing, strutted herself across the stage, and used the mirrors, to practice the many facial expressions she’d needed for the performance, it awes me, how focused, how concentrated she was, in her spirit of learning the scripts.

Look, “the egret came out with the dust pan, the cart rolled into the creeks……”, even at night when we were asleep, she’d still mumbled on in her dreams, as she’d sung, spoken, and bobbled her head, swayed her hips side to side, I thought there was an earthquake, I’d gotten up to check, and found, that my wife’s mouth was, wide open, and, it seemed that she’d stated, “the frog just told me, that he’d had to, skip a meal now and then, going hungry………”, it had truly, shocked me. The amount of heart and hard work she’d put into rehearsing for this performance left me in awe.

from the papers…

“Look, do I look pretty?”, just last month, she’d taken $5,000N.T. out of her own pocket to custom-made an outfit for her performance and that egret-looking white satin costume was really eye-catching, I’d started clapping for her then, it’s just, I couldn’t help but asked, “You only had a small role, is it really necessary, for you, to go all OUT, spending all that time, and the money too?”

My wife turned to me, looked at me with that seriousness about her, “there’s a saying, life’s a drama, of course I’d needed to take up my roles real well, even IF I’m only an unimportant character, or even just a stand-in, I’d needed to, work hard, to perform in the shows!” her word made me expect her first performance even more, but, if my wife saw me in the audience, she’d probably get too nervous that she would forget her lines, and wanted me to view her performances on YouTube instead, so, I can only, wait patiently then.

not my photograph…

So, this woman had found something to keep her busy, and, although she’d only had a small part, she’d still taken her rehearsals of her lines really seriously, and, from this you can probably tell, that this, was the exact same attitude this woman carried when she was still working, and, it’s also this attitude that will make her successful in life too.
