What Was Going Through Your Mind When You Were Graduating?

If you’d just, graduated out of college this year, you probably had already experienced numerous number of graduation ceremonies now. And yet, every graduation, you’d had a different feeling, in kindergarten, you were very excited, getting on stage, but you didn’t know what it meant, to graduate; in your elementary school graduation, you’d wanted to grow up fast; you had no expectations, nothing to look forward to in middle school as you graduated, and, you believed that the purpose of high school was so you can get into a college, and, by the time you’d graduated out of high school, you already knew which university you were going to, just wanted to play for four years straight, not really, thinking hard on the plans of your own lives.

Before college, the only goal for the graduation ceremonies is merely to continue your education, so long as you’d made high enough grades, you will conquer all the obstacle and get yourselves into a decent college, but, by the time we graduated college, we were already, adults, no longer was keep on in education a necessity anymore, and even if you’d chosen to further your education, it had more to do with your future plans of your life. You may have already thought seriously about life, even if you’d not have a single clue yet, kept asking yourselves the following question will help you find your direction in life, “What, do I want to contribute to the world?”

This question, it may seem very grandiose, but, it could become a guiding light, for you, on your lifepath, to help you focus on that goal, and work hard, otherwise, you will surely, be lost. You may not have the answers for the time being, but kept thinking about this question will help you adjust the direction your life is taking you on, and it will, slowly, help you realize what it is that you’re supposed to do with your lives.  When you contemplate on this question, if you can focus on a few things, it will, surely, make your searches faster and you will find whatever it is you’re looking for faster.

First, you need to believe, that what you learned, you can put to good use, so long as you’d worked hard, in areas that interested you, you will, eventually succeed. Don’t get pulled into the beliefs of the media’s claims of how the employment outlook for the younger generation isn’t at all good, that that wages hadn’t increased for a long time, how you will never come to own your own houses in your life, etc., etc., etc.  Actually, there are opporunties everywhere in the world today, if you’d given to others more, then, there would be returns that yields to you greatly too, and, when the time came for you to own your own properties, then, you will, come to own one, the important thing is, can we give to others in the world or not.

As I was preparing for my doctor dissertation, I’d felt, that all the good topics were already picked by others, until I’d read more and more literature, and started paying attention to how the world is going, I’d found, that there are, still a lot of things, worth me looking further into. So, there are still, good opportunities, it’s just that we can’t see them, because we’re focused on what was right before our eyes, and not seen into the distances.  Reading is the way, to gain a wider perspective on things, and so, the habit of reading for life is very important for you to acquire.  Actually, when others couldn’t find the opportunities, the opportunities would, present themselves to you, so long as you focus, looking for them, they are, everywhere all around you.

Secondly, you must keep that fighting spirit high, don’t get defeated and beaten down, just because others tell you, that the employment outlook isn’t so well, actually, the environment is constantly changing, sometimes it’s good, sometimes, not so much so; and, in the worst of all conditions, someone is bound to stand out, and, in better times, there are still those, who would, waste their lives away. Knowing that the greater environment isn’t good, it can positively encourage us to work even harder, and on the downside, it ccan’ also, become the excuse we give ourselves, to stop working hard, one of my successful friend working in business once told me, that for over decades, the environment in which he’d run his business had not been good, but he’d still, worked very hard, and, every time he’d shown up, he’d, held his head high, and that, was  one of the primary reasons why he is so successful.

The third worth noting point is, the more able-bodied we’d become, the more we can give to others. We should always keep that mind of helping others, of doing good constantly, and take advantage of the opportunities that presented themselves to us to help others, but, we must also understand, that those with the more resources, are the ones who will be able to help others out, and so, we must, focus on, gaining experiences in our lives, adding on to the assets that we had acquired, so we can afford, to help moreout, and, the more people you’d helped out, the happier you’ll be.

Life is a winding road, nobody knows where it ends, but, so long as we set the goals of giving to others, the happiness at the end of the road is what’s to be expected for us. You may not know yet, how, you will be contributing to the world, making others’ lives better, or how great your contributions may be, but, so long as you don’t limit yourselves, open up your hearts, you can contribute to the world in great ways.  Don’t sell yourselves short, you have greater capabilities than you give yourselves the credits for!

So, this would be, a word to the graduates, and, helping these newly graduated students to set up that right value, and it is important, to make the contributions to mankind, to help someone out whenever that we can, because when we help others, we feel happier (as studies had already shown and proved???), it is, very important, that we all contribute things in our lives, making a difference, and stop focusing on the DOLLAR, that, is the key to your separate successes and happiness too!
