And here, the report on what might have caused this young man to murder his own mother so brutally, call it a follow-up if you wish, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

The adolescent male, Xiang joined a gang two years ago in Sinchuang District, he would put his life out on the line for his brethren, became very rebellious; his friend told, that Xiang didn’t know who his father was, and had desperately longed for the love of a father since he was growing up, but hated his mother’s new husband’s discipline of him, his blessings for his mother’s being newly wedded, his friend told, was not heartfelt.

The police found, that Xiang had taken up with bad company after high school, and would often asked his mother for money for his friends, the two of them would often argue loudly on the streets, and had gotten into the police stations for it too; Xiang’s mother sued a couple of times, but never fully went through with the court proceedings at all.

Two years ago, Xiang had gotten into an argument on the company that he kept with his mother, and waited until after his mother was fast asleep, he’d turned on the gas then ran off, the neighbors discovered, and, no major damages were done. This time, his mother had called the cops on him, and the family safety organization stepped in, last year, as the mother-son relationship got better, that, was when the interventions and the classes stopped.

Xiang’s friends told, that since he’d not had enough paternal love, he’d longed for it, that he’d found a godfather locally, and called him “Poppy”. Before he was arrested, he’d called his godfather up to help, but his godfather thought that he committed a serious crime, that he couldn’t help him out.

Xiang’s friend also told, that he’d disliked the men his mother dated, because “uncle” nagged endlessly, the posting on FB, “Don’t know what I’m supposed to say, happy wedding, mom, hope you’d found your everlasting love”, the friend read it as a sort of a forced blessing.

Based off of interviews, Xiang had asked his mother for $60,000N.T. to help his friend fix up the car, his mother told him to go see his stepfather, he still couldn’t get the money. After he’d murdered his mother, he’d asked for help from his godfather, but his godfather thought that what he’d done was major, and couldn’t help him.

Based off of investigations, Xiang had transferred in his second year of middle school, because he was found smoking on campus, he was given a minor reprimand; last year he’d tested into the tourism department of a certain occupational high school, but he’d rarely shown up to class, and when he’d shown up, he’d fallen asleep in class, had almost NO interactions with his classmates, and because he’d been absent too many times, his mother filed the papers for him to drop out last November.

So, this adolescent male was in desperate need of the attention from a man in his life, but he’d not had any, his mother was getting on with her life, remarried to another man, and, that, was what drove him to murder her, perhaps on some level he felt that she couldn’t provide for him a complete and safe family to grow up in…
