Hey, do you still remember, that downpour that suddenly came that day,
That crack between the rocks, that made our love a possibility?
That night, we’d found, a secret location together,
I’d used a branch, to mark out the boundaries of our territories,
and, here’s what this animal look like in a photograph…
and yes, this, is still, a WILD animal, NOT meant to be, domesticated…
You said, that I look valiant, with the markings on me, that I’d, looked like, a king,
I took your hand, placed it on my heart, said, then, you shall be, my queen.
The frogs, the birds, sung that happy and joyous tune for us,
As the moon bore witness, to the promises of love we’d made toward each other.
But now,
That rock had been, removed,
And all of a sudden, the roads became, wide open;
Those songs,
Got replaced by the engines from those cars running
And our secret hiding place,
They’d, taken, everything away from us
The walls made up by the trees, the protective gardens, and………you as well.
The moon still glowed, just like she used to, high up, in the skies
I’d, scratched out our names with my nails, hard, onto our territories
And maybe, one day, just maybe
The humans will realize
That there was, a home here, once, very
Long ago.
So, you do feel the sorrows, from this animal, losing its natural habitat, don’t you? How it’d gone from having this wilderness to live in, to roam through, to play on, to how everything got replaced, by the HARDENED concretes of the freeways, the urbanizations? This should be an alarm, making people aware, of the disappearing natural habitat of animals!
