The Maternal Love, Observations from Behind Bars

Time to reflect, translated…

I’d broken a law and am now, incarcerated, trapped, inside these tall walls. I live in Keelung, and yet, I was sent to the penitentiary in the Taiyuan Valley, in Taidong, and, although there’s a great distance, the love my mother had for me kept her traveling hundreds of kilometers each trip to visit me, to encourage me. My elderly mother, visiting me with my wife and child, it’d made me fill with happiness and bliss, at this difficult time of my life. How amazing mothers are, is different based off of individual interpretations, on my last meeting, my mother told me an interlude, about maternal love, I’m sharing it with all of you now.

spending time with the family is very important, especially for the inmates in prison…

My youngest daughter is at that age of overactiveness and curiosity, at two-and-a-half, she was very active, jumping up and down, in the waiting room, she saw an elderly grandmother, sitting at the corner all alone on her own, she’d became very open, and ran over, to play with her, my mother worried that her young granddaughter may prove to be an inconvenience for the elderly woman, walked over, to carry my daughter off, but she’d found, that something wasn’t, quite right with the elderly woman, and started up a conversation with her. And in the process of their conversation, she’d learned that the elderly woman is seventy-five years old, and was there, to visit her only son, her son killed his own wife by mistake, and was sent to prison, they didn’t have children together, and there was only this elderly mother who cared about him. And, on the meeting they just had, the son begged her to buy him some food and some daily necessities, and, although the elderly woman didn’t have much money on her, but worried that her son might have it hard, she’d gave him the money he’d asked for, and then, she’d realized, that she didn’t have enough money to get the bus ride home again, that, was why she sat troubled, in the corner, trying to figure out what she is to do.

Driven by the nature of maternal love, all mothers cares about are their young, traveled the distance, and, even IF she’d gotten taken, she’d not carried any regret, to give to her child. How much trials have a mother gone through, how many tears were shed, I’m sure, that the elderly woman’s son must not have known about his own mother’s predicament. It got me thinking, how about my own mother? She must’ve taken so much trials into herself for my sake I’m sure. I’m grateful for my mother, for letting me have the happiness that I’m now surrounded by, I hope, that in the future, I can give the same happiness, back to her too.

not my photo…

Before the meeting time ended, my mother told me, that she will, take the elderly woman home safely. Mom, thank you for not just loving me, but filling this world up with your kindness too.

So, this, is from the perspective of the son who is serving his time in jail, by watching his own mother showing kindness to a complete stranger, I’m sure, that it must’ve touched the man, and, hopefully, he would be, reformed, and when he gets released, he will, start his life anew again too.
