After he woke up, he’d worked hard, to establish himself, to stand back on his own two feet again, the amazing thing about human spirit is shown on this one, translated…
A car accident from eight years ago, the doctors pronounced Jun-Kai Chiu to be seriously brain-injured, “don’t know when he will wake up again”; his mother never gave up on hope, took very close care of him, and, after being in a coma for over two months, Chiu woke. After the trials of his physical rehabilitations, Chiu started learning to bake the egg-shaped cakes, and rode out on the tricycle, started doing the small business, used his actions, to encourage those who were injured like him, “so long as you’re still alive, there will always be hope.”
At age thirty-five, after he was out of the armed services, because of his own interests, he’d started selling toy guns; but because he couldn’t make enough, he’d gone from eleven in the evenings, to four in the morn, to work as a security guard at a construction site. Eight years ago one day after work, it was dark, and there was a light drizzle, plus he was too tired, he’d gotten into a car crash, hit the back of his head, became a vegetable.
Seeing how her own son fell instantly, Mrs. Chiu who was diagnosed with polio since she was a child was overcome with grief, and although she was immobilized, she’d still took very good care of him. And maybe, it’s her love that made the miracle possible, after a little over two months, Chiu woke up, and slowly, regained his senses.
“This is the second time I’d become my mother’s son”, Chiu said, that he was filled with so much gratitude, for being given one more chance at life; after the endless trying years of rehabilitation, he can already perform simple actions with both his hands now, but his legs are still handicapped. And because the trauma had, damaged his language cortex too, the first two years after he woke from the coma, he couldn’t make a single sound, after three years of physical therapy, he was able to, speak again, but, he’d needed to, say each word very slowly, and he’d lacked control over the sound of his own voice too.
Chiu was in an accident, the family economics was at a loss, other than receiving assistance from the government, his younger sister who works in nursing would from time to time, give them monetary supports. Chiu was making progress in his rehab, he didn’t want his own mother to work so hard, he’d thought hard, about what he can do to help out with the household economics, a person who’d sold the egg cake pastries learned of this, and agreed to teach him how to make the food items, free of charge.
In the process of making the egg cakes, the yolks and the whites needed to be separately beaten, but because Chiu’s hands still lacked the mobility, he’d often, missed the ingredients up; he’d also had troubles, keeping the time in the ovens, and he’d burned, batches at a time. And, although he’d had numerous failures, he’d not complained of the hardships, he’d smiled and said, “if my hands aren’t so agile, and I’d beaten up the eggs wrong, then, we would have extra eggs for our suppers.”
heres’ the man, working hard, baking his cakes, courtest of the UND Papers…
It’d taken Chiu a total of five months to prepare the ingredients, mixing, and baking, and he’d also needed to, ride the tricycles, last month, Chiu started heading to Houli Marketplace, and the front of the Houli Race Parks to sell the cakes he’d baked, other than “being my own boss”, earning a paycheck, getting into the crowd is an alternative type of rehabilitation for him too.
People who’d bought the egg cakes from him learned of his story, and had posted articles, encouraging him, this led the online community to gain awareness, and, they’d all gone, to buy from him too; and sometimes, he’d sold out in a matter of few short hours, he’d asked his mom to make him more batter so he could bake more cakes.
And, the force that’s pushing this man to get himself better was his mother, because he’d not wanted his mother to work so hard, and he’d needed the opportunity, to make himself feel that he has something to offer the world again, and, with someone’s help, he was able to, stand BACK up on his own again, and now, his life is filled with doing things that he enjoyed, because he knows that he is contributing things in his own life.
and, here are the finished products…
