The issue that surrounds the abandonment of pets, and where they all end up, translated…
On April 25th, seventy dogs and cats set out from the Minghsiung shelter in Chiayi, by 1:40 in the afternoon, when the truck arrived at a private kennel, on this last truck, only twenty-three dogs survived the trip.
This,, is not a careless mistake, this, is an intended kind of cruelty to these animals, that, was a very small car, with seven large breed dogs, squeezed inside three cages, and there were, also, several smaller cages with puppies, and one of the smaller cages had about twenty puppies, the population of over seventy, was three times the original plans.
and this, would be what THAT looks like…
Most of the dogs died because of overheating, some of them were, bitten to death, he was once, named by the volunteers as “Handsome’, he had cute ears that hung down, and although he’d not gotten properly groomed, his golden coat still shone, and as he was being photographed to have his picture posted on the adoptions website, he was mildly mannered, and gentle, with his eyes, shining, and only he got chewed and bitten to death by the other dogs of the entire cargo, in that stuffy, unsteady back of the truck, in the extremely tightly packed up cages, for the two short hours’ ride, he was, in hell.
What was most doubtful was, the volunteers recognized one of the dogs with the tiger stripes, on four days before the transfer, the dog was, taken into the shelters, by the garbage collectors; it was, a dog who was poisoned by agricultural pesticides, already barely breathing, completely limped, and before he’d gotten any medical treatments, he alighted this, ride toward death. And no one knew if he was dead or alive, the only function of his broken up body was, to reduce the shelter’s statistic of “death by natural causes”, and increase the “rate of adoption”, and this, would be the result of pursuing after the “Zero Euthanasia” goal, without the proper plans.
put into those barrels, then, ready to get tossed out, like your everyday trash…
“Zero Euthanasia” was like a soap bubble that got bigger and bigger with each breath, “they’re all going to be alive,”, and, abandoning the pets became, reasonable, and a choice for the owners. If the public pounds became crowded, then, ship them to the privately owned shelters, nobody knew what happened, to all those shipments of pets, they’re just not, euthanized.
Then, let’s put the fifteen-year-old senior that had become paralyzed, that’s suffering from paralysis there too, it doesn’t move anymore, keeping it at our home would become a burden; and, let’s place that golden retriever with untreated heartworm, and hip dysplasia there too then, it no longer jumped and ran around like when he was younger; the elderly Labrador, with the sores on his limbs, he’s not as handsome as that beagle, he’d become, a total, eyesore; and the yellow mixed breed with the trichocrptosis, the black mixed breed with two tumors on his stomach, they were both, abandoned, on the same day, and, the dogs that got sick will share the same fates.
And, all of these owners had, not broken ANY laws, and placed their elderly, sick and unfit to be kept dogs into the shelters, and, none of them was punished or fined for not giving their pets, the proper care and medical care, and, it’d saved the humans the money it would’ve cost, to bring the pets to the vets to get euthanized, and they’d not even, gotten fined for abandonment.
Currently, the people are signing a petition to have the government change the animal protections law #25, to up the punishment, the fines, for abusing, hurting, slaughtering dogs and cats, so people who are guilty would, get punished, as I was penning this article down, there were already 457,568 members of the public who’d signed this petition.
But, is this number enough, to keep all the dog shelters, hidden, in the darkened corners of the society, that humans often overlooked? Can we ask the government, to tackle the issue of the sources of the abandonment of the animals? Is there any way, that we can, enforce a stricter rules for people who want to buy pets, to see if they are, qualified? When, will we finally, see the improvements of the government owned animal shelters, and the privately owned shelters get under tighter watch for the rules and the regulations? There’s, so much that needed to be done here, but so little, that were, actually, accomplished.
If, by knowing all of the above, there’s still not enough who are willing, to sign the petitions, then, how about, adding those forty-seven MORE lives that were lost, being transported, in the back of the shelter’s animal transportation van?
ready to be gas-chambered???![]()
So, this article gave us an in-depth look at the problem caused by how humans abandon their pets, just because they’re older, gotten sick with cancer or some other illness that are associated with being elderly, that still doesn’t give YOU the rights to just FUCKING (no need to pardon me here!!!) abandon them, how could you, stupid dog owners feel, if you got abandoned like how you’d abandoned your pets by someone you trusted and loved, huh??? Think on that, and maybe, the next time you want to pick up a pet at a shelter, and/or, bring an already adopted animal BACK to the shelter because the pet didn’t fit your expectations, you will think MORE than TWICE!!!
