Life, the Obstacle Course

Slowing Down, and Stopping to Hear What Mothers Want

From a retired educator, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

Mother’s Day is in two days, but, based off of the Children’s Welfare League’s surveys, the happiness indicator of mothers is scored at a sixty-eight on average, although it was, a passing grade, but, it was, closer to the bottom limits.

There were stories of elderly children dressing themselves up, entertaining the parents, and, there’s the Taiwanese idiom of “older adults became child-like”, seeing mom getting older, her temperament and ways returned back to when she was a child, other than giving her constant reminders, in order, to get what I want her to do, I’d had to, play dumb, act like a fool, make my mother laugh aloud, and she would then, comply.

On the eve of Mother’s Day, I’d recalled Jay Chou’s song, “Listen to Your Mother”, there was a segment: listen to your mother, don’t let her get hurt, grow up fast, so I can protect her, the beautiful whites, starting to grow in the bliss, the magic of angels, the warmth and the kindness from mom.

The mother’s happiness indicator score isn’t high enough, as children, shouldn’t we slow our paces down, think hard, on how, to turn that all around. My suggestion is, listen to your mothers more, and, treat her with an extraordinary kind of kindness and love, only by so doing, would all the mothers out there be happy and feeling blissful always.

So, this, is really awful, because the writer of this article seemed to attribute the responsibilities of the mothers’ happiness to us, the children, but WHY, the HELL should we, children BE responsible for keeping all of you, parents happy, and, shouldn’t it be that you were supposed to be the ones, taking care of us? And, if you’d FAILED to do so while we were growing up from before, then, you still have absolutely NO right, to ask us to fulfill our filial piety OBLIGATIONS to all of you, mothers!!!
